Garmin GPSMAP 376C with GXM Antenna

I have a three year old Garmin GPSMAP 376c that has a problem that I can't seem to find any information on. When the unit is powered up, and the GXM 30 Antenna is plugged in, the unit beeps and messages that XM Antenna is detected. Then about 30 seconds later, it messages that the XM Antenna is not responding. The easy answer is that the antenna is broken, but I have not found any reports of this problem anywhere. I find it strange that it is detected but doesn't respond. Mostly, I am annoyed at the thought of replacing this $200 antenna!

Call XM and have them refresh your service.

Thanks for your post. I did contact XM and they did send a refresh signal a few times. It is not the XM signal, the GPS unit is not registering with the antenna itself. It looks like it will end up having to go back to Garmin to be repaired for 50% of the replacement price. In speaking with Garmin, this is a common problem. Yipee!

I have the same problem and seems to be the little connector into the GPS. It has to bend the cable quite a lot and mine is getting intermittent. They should have the right angle connector go up instead of down.

Mine is in its 6th year of use and I have no problem with the USB connector--works like a charm.

This report of malfunction was downgraded to problem from issue about six times.

The word "problem" implies that someone is to blame or is responsible. In order to prevent hurting someone's feelings, that word is no longer politically correct and has been downgraded to "issue," which implies the requirement for some sort of committee solution.

I have had the XM weather puck for several years now. The connector to the GPS unit is a little usb right angle connector. It brings the wire out heading down. As the connector is close to the bottom the wire has to make a 90 deg turn to allow the gps to fit into the mount Garmin supplies. That right angle turn after a while stresses the wires and they have become intermittent on my unit. It is my opinion the the wire should have come out at some other angle. So I call it a problem and a design flaw. Much as I am a huge fan of Garmin stuff they are not perfect.
