Will [I] be able to use the new [Lowrance Structure Scan LSS-1 add-on SONAR unit] with my [Lowrance LCX-28C older unit] as an add on? |

The new LOWRANCE STRUCTURE SCAN LSS-1 unit is just announced. Details are slim. I make the inference that you will not be able to use it with older units like a LOWRANCE LCX-28c from the following information: "[The LSS-1] easily networks via ethernet with up to three HDS devices for sonar display and waypoint sharing." Source: The LOWRANCE LCX-28C is now a legacy product. It lacks the ethernet high-speed network port and connector to integrate with external SONAR devices, let alone to integrate with the newest and yet unavailable LSS-1 product. The LSS-1 explicitly mentions "HDS devices" as those capable of being interconnected. Of course, the legacy LCX-28c is not an HDS device. If you wish to take advantage of the side scan SONAR features of the Lowrance LSS-1 when it becomes available, you will most likely have to abandon your older SONAR unit and get a new one. Of course, you will also have to acquire the new multi-beam multi-element SONAR sensor or transducer for the LSS-1. All side-scan SONAR devices require multiple transducer arrays to perform the side scan function. |

In a video-audio presentation, Gordon Sprouse, Marketing Director, NAVICO, confirms that Lowrance Structure Scan sonar imaging product consists of an add-on black-box module and transducer array that only works with Lowrance's new HDS multi-function displays. http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/ bcpid1243727410?bclid=1266094995&bctid=31126686001 |
