Does anyone have any feedback on the Raymarine A50D? It is on sale through the end of September, and it seems to get good reviews from what I have read.

There was prior discussion of the Raymarine A-Series new models in

The A50D has the smallest screen in the new A-Series. My impression is the original price point was too high compared to other devices in the marketplace with a screen the same size, and Raymarine initiated a $200 rebate offer to correct the price point.

I bought the A57D and passed on the A50 because of screen size and I'm glad I did. I have older eyes and always had vision problems so that was primary issue for me. You will get them someday too. However, I think I could have adjusted to the A50 - but the A57 is a sweet unit. I'm not sure where you are these days Matt but if you get close to Grand Haven or want to go out in my Outrage you can test it yourself on my boat.

As regards performance it is incredible and very sophisticated compared to other brands. I was close to getting Humminbird and had not eliminated Garmin and probably would have gone Garmin. I also had some concerns about screen performance in bright light (direct sun) but got over that too. IF you are around let me know or want to set something up - send email.
