I was interested to know what [battery charging current] does [a 1989 Mercury 2 stroke 60 HP engine] give off. I don[']t think it has an altenator. What does it have[?] [H]ow can [I] test to find out how much [battery charging current is produced by the engine]?. [A]ny information is good information. Thanks Mel Ling

Read your owner's manual. The specifications section will have information about the battery charging current output.

To measure the charging current, place an ammeter in series with the alternator output lead.
