[Is the] Oregon 400C hand held discontinued? If so, what is the replacement?

I've been considering giving myself a Garmin Oregon 400C hand held GPS for Christmas. While checking the Crutchfield web site for pricing and availability I saw that the unit was listed as discontinued. At a West Marine outlet yesterday the GPS was on sale for $200 which tends to support the notion that it is a discontinued item.

Thank you,
Butch

While it may be discontinued by Crutchfield, it is still offered by Garmin and is not shown on their discontinued list.

See https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=161

If it is being discontinued soon, I would suggest the Oregon 400I is the replacement given the higher letter after the 400.

Why worry about it being discontinued? That's a great way to
pick up good gear for cheap.

DO NOT use Crutchfield for pricing. They tend to be about the
most expensive.

Chuck,

Thanks for the tip re Crutchfield pricing. Due to an arrangement with my Visa card credit union we get an extra 7% off for many products sold by Crutchfield.

On an HD TV I plan to purchase that provides a price well below the next lowest price which is from, I believe, Abe's of Maine??

As they no longer sell the 400c which is the marine version of the Oregon preloaded with Garmin's costal mapping. I guess I'll just buy it from the West Marine store for $200 plus sales tax. I think it's a pretty good buy at that price.

We use the 400T at work and they are great.
I would take a look at gpsonsale.com. I bought a Garmin 441s a month or so back from them. They have some of the best prices on the net.
good luck,

GOOGLE has a search option for finding prices.

How do your Garmin 400T's work and would you buy g2 maps and use it on your boat?

Floating,

By all reports the 400T works perfectly well. If I owned one I would purchase the G2 Blue Charts on an SD card to use with the 400T. Prices vary but I've seen $78 on a web site for the G2 chart on an SD card.

The Admiral informed me today thet the West Marine store price for the Oregon was $299 vs the $200 I earlier stated. Sorry for the confusion but I know the Admiral is never wrong.
