[How does a temperature gauge work on a 1979 OMC outboard motor?]

A temperature gauge on a c.1979 OMC outboard motor uses a temperature sender to control current flow through an electrical meter whose dial face has been calibrated in temperature. The meter and the sender need to be matched. The wire color that connects the sender to the meter is typically TAN.
