AIS is an acronym for automated identification system. A good way to resolve the meaning of acronyms is to use ACRONYMFINDER.COM
AIS has been mentioned repeatedly in prior discussions here in SMALL BOAT ELECTRICAL--it is one of our favorite topics. Read some of the 100 prior articles.

Tom--Thanks for showing us your chart plotter presentation of AIS targets in conjunction with the actual view from your boat. I plan to add an AIS receiver to my electronic goodies.
