I originally had a keypad ignition in my boat, but, after a storm, some components got wet. After the boat dried out I was getting a message on the (SC1000 System) tachometer gauge:

Sys fault - stbd system fault (emergency stop) - emergency stop has been activated. Check lanyard - non critical. Service engine soon.

After some plugging and unplugging I decided [the cause of the problem] was something with the keypad.. [I] got a regular key until I could get a new keypad. The key worked fine with no error.

Got the new pad and got the same error as the original. Now I don't know what to check. The regular key works and the pad does not. And, yes, the lanyard is in. I did a master reset as well and just wasted my time recalibrating everything. Thanks for any help--Nick

i cannot offer any advice except generic problem solving. From the narrative, it sounds like the connector to which the keypad is wired may be involved.

If this is a Verado-related problem, I would go to the Verado site and post your question. There are qualified techs to answer your question on that site. You may also get in touch with Sea Bob Marine, this guy is in Florida and is a Verado whiz. If this motor is an inboard or I/O then I think it means a trip to your local technician. Good luck with diagnosing the problem,

Robert
