Imitation Tiny Tach Works!

I purchased an imitation "Tiny Tach" from Hong Kong for $8.98 plus $5.99 shipping. It took 10 days to arrive and worked just as it was supposed to. Here's a link to Ebay where they are still selling them:

This is a very interesting unit. I wonder if it has the same Lithium battery with a life of 5+ years that is not replaceable that the Tiny Tach has.
I plan to have my boat for more than five years. I would be much more inclined to install it if it had an external power source.

It does have an internal, non-replaceable battery. That could be the kicker...having to frequently replace the unit could add up to more cost than a Tiny Tach....we will see! (Though I will probably use the unit on different engines (mower, ice auger, etc) just to see what they are running.
I will say that the refresh rate is definitely not in real-time...it takes a while but it did what I wanted. My 1967 Big Twin is maxing out at just over 4,700 rpm at WOT with a 13 pitch prop.
