I made a stop at the boat today to check on it.
Halfway down the stairs to the dock I noticed I could hear a loud weather radio.
I was a little surprised to find my Standard Horizon GX2100 on a weather channel and broadcasting loudly.

The display showed a weather alert had been broadcast.
I must have left the radio turned on monitoring channel 16 when I last used the boat, the weather alert activated and turned the radio to weather channel 6.

The radio can change channels and broadcast by itself but it appears that it cannot turn itself off.

I hope you took the boat out for a run to recharge the batteries after you discovered that you left the VHF radio turned on. I'm jealous that you still have your boat in the water.

There is a setting in the radio you can change so it ignores weather alerts.

My Standard Horizon started randomly changing channels on its own when moisture somehow got inside and condensation was visible on the inside of the screen.

Kevin, she was plugged into shore power so no battery problems this time.

I hesitate to turn off the weather alert setting.

In the future I will have to do a better job of shutting down my electronics.

I still think you should've taken the boat for a run to ensure that the batteries were fully charged. That's what I would've done.

I would have but I was pushing daylight.

Unfortunately I think I am pulling both boats tomorrow
