Earlier it was asked if PolarView NS can run on Apple iOS devices such as the iPad or iPhone. PolarView NS cannot run on Apple's iOS. Polar Navy has a new product called PolarView MX which is designed for the iOS used in Apple iPhone and iPad devices. See http://www.polarnavy.com/main/prod4 for more information. I have not tried PolarView MX and cannot offer any advice about it. [I created this separate thread to keep discussion of the two products separate. Please use this thread exclusively for PolarView MX.] |

Thanks for this, Jim. I was quite pleased (and surprised) to see they support USACE inland navigation charts. I use EarthNC on my ipad, and while they don't currently support inland navigation charts, they were quite receptive to my suggestions. If they don't have support by next season, I may have to switch. |

I don't know of any other navigation applications for computers that can use the United States Army Corps of Engineers charts as Polar Navy applications can. I use have downloaded (for free) a huge number of USACE charts, and enjoyed exploring the rivers they chart on my laptop (with PolarView NS). That PolarView MX can use these charts, too, is great news. The developer behind Polar Navy is really a very skilled programmer and apparently also a mariner himself. |
