The OEM lamps in the cabin of my 1990 Boston Whaler REVENGE 22 W-T Whaler Drive boat need replacement. They're the black and brown-stripe plastic lamps with a small switch on the bottom. One has managed to overheat the lamp shade and distort it, and the other seems to have a broken socket. I suspect I could repair the socket, but I am looking for some recommendations based on first-hand experience with a suitable replacement lamp. I don't want a $100 polished bronze LED fixture. Something under $50 would be nice. If anyone has bought a lamp and found it to be durable, reliable, and providing good reading light, please let me know.

My own market survey of bulkhead mounted 12-Volt reading lamps found the prices ranged from $20 (from an eBay seller) to $250 (from a yacht-grade supplier). Retailers (like West Marine) had lamps from about $70. I repaired my OEM lamp.
