Ok, I know there are at least a few more whalers down here besides mine! How about getting a few of them together on the Cumberland. Any intrest out there are am I really alone?

What Cumberland are you referring to ?

Why the one that flows into the TENNESSEE of course! and through downtown Nashville along its way.

Actually, it seems to be a pretty much overlooked recreational resource around here. I prefer to spend my weekends on the river but most head to the lakes...

There is a lot to see on the Cumberland River and some pretty good places to eat along the way. Blue Moon Cafe at Rock Island marina is at the top of my list.
Heck if you've got the time you can go all the way to the Gulf. (I was thinking of perhaps a little shorter rendevouz.)

Lets here from anyone interested and perhaps we can organize somthing if there are enough southern whalers out there.

Go Vols.

My son lives in Nashville, and if the timing were right I could swing by (sans boat) to say hello to a Whaler fest while seeing my son, too. Hoop, San Jose, CA

Hey HOOP,

I am working on coming up with a "redneck regatta" suggestion that may be appealing to more folks, didn't get a lot of response to this idea. Keep an eye on this forum.

I've got a '69 13'sport and live outside of Lexington, Ky.

A trip to Nashville is a possibility.

I've got a '74 Montauk and live in Centerville, Ohio. Depending on the date I might be interested. I've got friends in Franklin I could impose on if I needed a place to stay.

Hey,

Just returned from a weekend on the Tennessee River near Linden Tennessee. Talking about rural! Quite an experience. We did about 40 miles upstream starting at Cedar Creek... White sand and Shell beaches. Great camping spots on islands etc.

Perhaps this is another destination worth considering for some type of get-together.

Landlocked,

We have some land down on Watts Barr Lake so we could participate if this rendevous comes about. We went up to the North Channel one and it was great.
Hopefully we can find a local Whaler to guide the way to the great spots. John Flook provided us with a great tour of the area when we were up north.
There are some islands that allow camping so that may be an option? What time frame are you shooting for?

Bruce/Sam

Sorry bout the delay, I've been out of pocket for a week or so. I'm open for suggestions... Not sure how to even start planning something like this other than to toss it out there and see who is interested and what suggestions we get.

Perhaps the thing to do is plan a route, post an invite and see who signs up.

I definately can't plan it by myself. E-mail me or post any suggestions you might have and lets see where it goes. If we're too late to make it for the fall, it might give us something to look forward to in the Spring.

Chris.

Landlocked,
As with all of us, I have too much on my plate as is. If someone wants to pick a date in the spring, we can shoot for it. I wonder if the interest is there? We could post a date in May? June? and see what happens.

Ok,
How bout the second week of June. Ought to be enough sun and mosquitos by then... Any one have suggestions for a route? I'm leaning towards a tennessee river trip.
