Don (or any one else who picks up on this post tonight or early tomorrow morning)-

Grand Haven?? Katie and I are planning to trailer Outre' over to *South* Haven tomorrow with some non-boater friends because they told us that there was a wooden boat show there this weekend - have we got the wrong "Haven"??

*Please advise*

Whew!! Thanks, Tom - had a few short minutes of concern there...although, worst thing could have happened was we'd have to drive on to Grand Haven another 60 miles or so if we got to South Haven and found it to be nothing but fiberglass...

If any body ever wondered about the magic of the internet (Continuouswave should get its share of kudos here, too), here's an issue over a question about which town in Western and Southwestern michigan is having a particular event, pondered between two guys who live on nearly opposite sides of Michigan from each other, and the question is answered by someone (alright, not just someone, but the BigZ) in New Jersey, *while I'm sleeping*!

Looks like great weather for the show today, too!!

Thanks again, Tom-

Great show, and great day on the lake - I wish I had stumbled on your initial post earlier. Maybe we could have hooked up, especially if you could have considered making the run yesterday rather than Saturday. Other than being chopped up from a lot of traffic, Lake M. was really flat, and after poking around the woodies we went out into the big lake and ran up to Saugatuk for ice cream cones. Really delightful day on the water.

I may have dispensation this coming weekend as Katie will be in Portland WA for a reading conference, in the event there's any other potential Whalering out there.

Hey Guys,
When in S. Haven stop by for a visit. We are slipped right under the draw bridge on the upstream/downtown side. 25' Revenge that says "SHAMU" on the sides.

I always look for you when I go by, and always admire Shamu. We put in around 11:00 am Sunday, and didn't see anybody around when we passed by going out, and when we came back in around 6:00 we didn't see anybody either. I will keep a watch out, and I will stop when I see someone. Promise.

Kingfish and Ray,

The Dauntless 14 is nearing completion. This is the first boat I intend on naming. Whaletosh of course. I give you guys a hail whenever I make it to South Haven.

I wanted to go to St. Joe on Sunday. I was very interested in Christening the boat on the big lake. But the boss wanted to go to Gull Lake, which is where we had discussed going the day before. So off to Gull Lake we went. got to the launch ramp to see 20-25 boats waiting along the street just to get into the launch ramp. No thanks, we headed to Sherman Lake. spent the a lot of time on the water trying different props. Had a great time.

From what Kingfish stated we could have easily run to Saugutuck as well.

Hey Guys,

The good news is that we will be at S. Haven this Friday July 6th for 2 weeks!!!! Sorry I miss you on Sunday's but I am a preacher and you know what? My church sort of expects me to work Sundays except when I am on vacation.. So if you are by the next 2 weeks say hi... We stay at the depot RV Park Lot# 58 which is very near the drawbridge.

I just may do that. Perch fishing would be fun right about now. Maybe not productive, but fun.

If I don't wind up trying to catch up with LHG, JimH and Backlash up north, I may be poking around South haven this weekend, too.

Hey, Don-

Thanks for all the skinny you gave this greenhorn on getting around in Port Huron and Sarnia - I had a great time too, and those calm waters will bring me back. Hope to have Katie with me next time.

Got down to Lake St. Clair Sunday morning, but the weather was getting a little ugly so I blew on back and JimG helped me trailer up.

Tell Gail the author I was trying to remember was Patricia Cornwell whose central protagonist, Kay Scarpetta, is a forensic pathologist and attorney (I think I've got that right...)- you can see why I was reminded.

See ya on the water-
