roger8918	posted 07-08-2001 08:33 PM ET (US)         Just finished a fantastic extended holiday weekend of boating in OC and I could not believe all of the Whalers out there. Does anyone know of any Whaler happening in the area?
bones	posted 07-10-2001 07:46 AM ET (US)             Roger: Supposed to be a Chester River Swim this weekend (7/14) but I havent heard anything more about it since Scott's 6/26 post under the "Chesapeake Bay" thread. Whalers go to assist. bones
B Bear	posted 07-10-2001 11:35 PM ET (US)             I'll be there Saturday as a safety boat. I also helped out with the Bay Bridge swim. It was very interesting, Swimmers swam the Cheasepeake Bay between the spans. With them were Kayaks which in turn paddled over to the edge of the spans where Whalers patroled to pick up the swimmers and transfer them to a Mother Vessel. Outside of the the Whalers were large go fast boats that would intercept other boaters that might cross the swimmers and call on the police and Coast Gaurd boats (which mmost were Whalers) on the outside boundry. Blackdog was there in his 16 Dauntless, Scott in his Classic and quite a few Montauks and Classic Outrage. I took pictures, but they did not seem to be of the quality used at this site. I'll be there again next year, the swim raised $100,000 for MS. It was pretty cool overall, and Whalers played a very mportant role, I was glad to be a part of it. Bear
