Hi Clint, I launch out of Santa Cruz. There are many Whalers out there on any given good fishing day ! I also have three good friends with Whalers....Dave |

We had the first NorCal Rendezvous on the California Delta this past May. We all had a terrific time, and I'm sure we'll be doing it again in 2002. Take a look at the earlier posts to get a flavor for the event. Jim Hooper took the lead in finding a location for our "Whaler Base" and Chuck Triblet created a really neat web page to chronicle the event. Check it out at www.garlic.com/~triblet/sfwhalerrendezvous/ |

Count me in for a 2002 NorCal rendezvous! I missed last years because I was re-powering my 13' (and I live only 20 min. from the Delta). Carl R |

When I saw this post I really thought you were northern Cal. Oh well. You guys down south need to drag your sleds up here and fish out of Eureka where our famous jaws will really make you glad to be in a BW. Or try launching in Trinidad, the old whaling village. Hell the launch is so old it was around when whales were the catch of the day! Lots of Whaler owners up here, for obvious reasons. As you have probably heard before, we fish on days when the only boats on the pond are either twice our size, or fellow Whaler owners. BTW we are considering a Whaler only fish derby in 2002. El Nino in 2002?? Dorado off of Trinidad. Humboldt Jim |

Thanks for the responses. Went outside the Gate from Sausalito on 10/10. Good day. Several Whalers. Am headed to Cordell Banks from Bodega this Sat., weather pending . . . Salt/Stewarts Point is a backup. Would be fun to tandum. BW's was the first place we put the boat in. Bridgekeeper asked us to tow a log out of the channel, and at day's end we towed a disabled open-bow a couple miles to a marina. Great intro to BWs. Would like to join group at next rendevous. Pix were inviting. Thanks, Clint |
