posted 10-26-2001 01:30 PM ET (US) On Sunday Oct. 20 I depart for Charleston, SC with Whaler in tow for two weeks. Look for me on the water on any given warm day. I should be the only Montauk with a GA registration. Wave me down or call on VHF channel 16. This will be the first baptism of my baby in salt water so I am pretty excited.
We will be staying at my father-in-laws weekend house on Paradise Island way up the Wando river. Has anyone ever heard of Naylor Dock and Marine Construction? I am going to get an estimate to have an inexpensive dock built out there. I am hoping I can talk my father-in-law into it.

Great fishing in the Wando this time of year...trout, some flounder, most bass are under sized...read the new rules on bass.

reelescape1 - Thanx for the tip. I am, however, not much of a fisherman.
We will probably just make some day trips with my daughter (age 4) and her cousins. My father-in-laws place is not on a deep water lot. I could leave my boat resting in the mud at low tide. What I most likely will do is launch and recover from the Wando River public boat ramp on each trip.

The only public ramp near P. Is. that I know of is on the Hwy. 17 side and its not great. The "best" closest on for the Wando would be Remleys Point...unless you drive to Buck Hall in Awendaw. Its on the waterway and very nice. $5 per day.

reelescape1 - Thank you for the advice. I would ask you for directions, however I am ready to head out.

We have a private ramp on the ICW in Awendaw. If you want to launch let me know and I can take you out. It is off Doar Road not far from Paradise Island at all.
