Having been a Whaler user since 1970, and an owner since 1985, sailing all over the inland lakes and docking for 7 years on Eire (Catawba Island) if we got all of the Whalers in Ohio together, it wouldn't be much of a fleet.

I would be willing to do a rendezvous.

I live near Cleveland and was wondering if there was anything taking place in Ohio.

If anyone is interested, I will be up at the cabin in Conneaut,OH. on Lake Erie close to Erie,PA. and Cleveland,OH. If anybody would like to meet me there, please let me know, we could Whaler on Saturday, and have some Brews. I belong to a boat Club, so we could hang out there too, let me know!!!! Jack.

Thought I would revive this thread in case some new Ohio Whalers have started looking. It's been years but I went to the Cedar Point "in the water" boat show several times. Thought it was more informative than the Cleveland boat show which was pretty nice back when. Does anyone know if they still have the in the water boat show? It might be a covienient excuse to try and start an Ohio Rendezvous, do the boat show, and put an island(s) in our lives. By the way is Portage Point Marina still in Port Clinton, and still selling whalers.

Scarlson,
Portage Entry Marina moved into their new facility on Rt.269 a few years ago. They just repaved their parking lot and it looks like they recieved a new shipment of Whalers. Their old facility is now the Jet Express ferry boat terminal. I will check on the dates for the Cedar Point boat show and post the dates.

The Cedar Point boat show will be held Sept. 11-15. For docking info and reservations call Cedar Point Marina at (419)-627-2334. I will be out of town until the end of the month, so I will not be able to provide any more info until I return.

I will never spend another dime at Portage Point if they sold out to the Jet Express. That Jet Express is operated by the most incompetent captains on the Great Lakes. They think they own Lake Erie and you dam well better get out of their way. That thing has a worse wake than a freighter and they seem to delight in coming as close as possible to anyone who dares to get in "their sea lane". It just serves landlaubers who get silly drunk and screw up Put in Bay. If I go up I won't get a slip at Cedar Point Marina I've heard to many stories about so of the boat operaters that inhabit those waters, all of which end in "Crunch". I just mentioned the boat show as something else to do in case old Erie shows her fickle side. Of course if anyone from Protage Point wanted to redeem themseleves for selling out, they might want to look to 2003 and try to entice some really old classic Whalers to show up (they pay for the slips) it would loook pretty awesome going out a dock with one side having classics and the other side showing the current line. The only problem might be the classics would outshine their current offerings.
