Anyone live in the Finger Lakes, NY area that would like to get a "get together" goin? I live on Conesus Lake and rarely, if ever, see any BW's out here (Fingerlakes, Lake Ontario). I think Ive seen maybe 3 on this lake alone and rarely hear of any BW plans in this area. If intersested , please post, Id be most interested in hearing from any of you or anyone:)

What timing! I'm on my way to the finger lakes next week and I was looking for some good local knowledge. I'm towing our 21' Walkaround from Michigan, and my wife and I would like to spend a few days in the area. We are planning to sleep on the boat, and maybe camp one night. Any suggestions/info/must see things?? Maybe we can meet up on one of the lakes?

We will be there from the 3rd or 4th of July until the 6th.

Hey Jeff,

Sorry for the late reponse...here are some great sites for ya to look around in...Fingerlakes.com, Fwpi.com (click on the liks and it will give you great details about the region, including camping grounds), and canandaigua.com These are very informative. Based on my experience, I would head to Canadaigua Lake on July 4th, they have whats called the ring of fire, where residents put at least 3-4 road flares on the lake front in front of their houses to create the illusion. It is quiete a immpressive site to see. In addition, they have a pretty good fire show from the north end..but also many residents, who have money to throw around, put on their own fire works show over the water and in somecases is better than the towns ie; one guy was rumored to have spent 40k on fireworks alone one year and to say the least it was very impressive!! As for Campgrounds, Im not positive at whats good, but the fwpi.com website does have campground links to whichever fingerlake you choose.

I live in the fingerlake region on Conesus, but it maybe to far westward for your taste. But, if you do come my way send me a post or an e-mail and we'll hook up.

My personal opinions on the lakes you should head out to...would be Seneca (the largest Lake...with spectacular views) or Canandaguia ( 28miles long, 3 miles wide...plus their are great winery tours of one of the largest winerys in the U.S.)

I hope this helps! If ya need further info, feel free to post back.

Digs: Sounds good to me. We live just outside of Albany and Karen and I have been talking about a weekend trip to the Finger Lakes later this summer - August perhaps??? We'd probably want to hit some of the wineries as part of the trip. July is out for us; every weekend committed already. Tom

Heyas Tbird....

The wineries down here really are great! Its even a better get away for the "couple" But another great feature for the lakes( I havnt found a good web-site yet for them), is the restaurants. Alot of 4 star restaurants that are hidden around the region...I have one on my lake and I swear it has the best steak and prime-rib around...I had a 33oz angus cut there not to long ago with all the fixins for like 25bucks. Cant go wrong with that:) But, their are also many other great "tours" and historical type events available....western NY is known as one of the first settling points because of all its natural water-ways...you will have a great time while your down here........Now if the NYS board of tourism will give me my check...I will be on my way:)
