Larry--

What route do you use when trailering from Chicago to FL?

We can take this offline if you like. My email address is in my profile.

Thanks.

Dave

Dave it's simple. I'll leave it here in case anybody else is interested.

I-65 to Nashville
I-24 to Chattanooga
I-75 to Wildwood FL
Florida turnpike to Ft Pierce
I-95 down the East Coast

Larry,

I'm curious. What sort of time did it take? And where are you typically going, Keys, Lauderdale, Naples?

I'd like to one day make a run from N.O. to the Keys. I guesstimate it to be around a 20 hour road trip with the 18 following me. Does this sound about right?

Jim

Jim - Having never been to N.O., I can't be of much help on that trip. You may want to try Hooter!

On I-75, once I cross the Fl border, it's about 8 hours down to Ft Lauderdale with the boat in tow.

From Alabama border(rt10) to Tampa is about 510miles and 7.5 hours or so. From me to Ft L. is about another 2.5-3 hours.

CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION!!! Just made this trip from Indpls. on down...I sat for 2 hours in Chattanogga due to construction. DO NOT GO THIS WAY!!! I typically do, but construction is so bad on 65 and 24, that I went over 74East in Indy, to Cinn. then 75 south on down. I do however do the 74-75 route when towing a boat, as I can detour around Mt. Eagle, which is a bear if toting, down 65. I have traveled this road for 30 + years, several times a year, and 74-75 seems to be the best way...Good luck and check with AAA before u leave! Regards,
Janis

Jez found dis tread. Mah momma live ova in Clearwater an' mah li'l sister live down in Ft. Lauderdale, so we've driven both ways. From Laf'yette to the west coast of FL, only way to go is I-10, takin' I-12 over da top of L:ake Pontchartrain and back to I-10. Then at I-75 hang a right. Trip takes 'bout 12 hours goin' 72 most da way. It's anudder 4 or 5 hours down to Lauderdale dependin' on the traffic. Wid-out plannin' to stop in the Tampa area, from I-10 you'd pass up I-75 until you almost hit the Atlantic then turn right on I-295, stayin on I-95 when you get the chance. That trip takes about 14 hours on the road. Both ways are likkitysplit interstate the whole way. Watch those FL cops, though. Some of'em, Ah'm sorry t'say, even LIKED Janet Reno:-!

Thanks Larry.

I'm looking for a route that doesn't take me through the mountains, and won't take me more than 30 hours...

Dave
