I was thinking that a rendezvous on Lake Powell in Southern Utah would be interesting and fun. Lake Powell is located in Southern Utah with the Glen Canyon dam near the Utah/Arizona border. Lake Powell lies within the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area with a multitude of beautiful canyons, cliffs, and access to many of the park's monuments.

I was thinking of a multi-day (2 - 3) affair in view of the many, many canyons, monuments, et.al that are accessible and the expanse of the reservoir. Beach camping is permitted - with restrictions regarding waste et.al. Or we could base at the marina near the dam.

Time-wise - early summer (probably out because of the logistics) or fall as the summers in the canyon would be pretty hot.

I have no idea how many members might interested in a get together like this. As such and concurrently with my doing some more research on Lake Powell, I am posting this request to those interested in participating in this thing.

Please let me know your candid thoughts regarding such a rendezvous, your location and the probability of your participation. Thanks ----- Jerry/Idaho

Jerry, I expect to make one trip to Lake Powell this year. If our schedules allow, why not make it a rendezvous? (Iíll be in the NW at least one month this summer but havenít decided when yet).

Although I used to go to Powell frequently and have launched at Wahweap, Bullfrog and Hite Ė I havenít been for several years now. Iím ready for a return. I guess the low water levels will mean more beaches than usual.

My advice Ė avoid holiday weekends. Better yet, avoid weekends altogether.
