Not sure if going the 1st or the 8th of March(saturday) and staying a night. Gonna drink, eat, buy stpid shirts, and be happy. I always want to tow my Whaler over and check out the area but every year it rains. Anyone going?

Nothing really....observe some skanky biker babes and drink beer. I want to see the other activities on the mainland side this time. We always do the touristy main street gig and this year I want to see the burnout competitions, etc.

Are you going for a day,,spending the night, taking the boat?
You have a bike?

Bunch of us are going for Sat/Sunday, not sure what weekend though. Probably not gonna take the boat and I have 2 bikes that I will not be taking as well. Too many bikes get hit and stolen to mess with that, plus who wants to drive 3+ hours hungover the next day?

The community is certainly gearing up for Bike Week. This morning (with Speed Weeks over just yesterday) I noticed many of the hotel and business signs already changed on beachside to "Welcome Bikers." The bike shops are also lining the sidewalks with their inventory. Needless to say, the beer trucks aren't far behind...

What does bike week have to do with a Boston Whaler rendezvous anyway, except waste this Forum's time & space?

I was gonna give this a "no comment!" but I changed my mind. This is not an attack on my friend Larry, this is to explain why I started this thread and to answer his question on how it pertains to this wonderful

Some people that "share" this forum live in areas that other people may visit, such as Florida. These places are warm and enticing to cold climate dwellers around the globe. Daytona brings in people from all over the world for just one week to share a common interest whether it be bikes, nascar, surfing, spring break, etc. The purpose of this thread is to see if any "whaler fans" are going to bike week and are they possibly bringing their boats. Just because bikes have nothing to do with Whalers does not not mean this thread is a "waste of time and space". It means that maybe we have a life outside of our stupid little boats that we might have in common with other people who also own the same make of stupid little boats. Maybe we all want to visit Paul and his family.

Most of us here do not sit at home all winter waxing our uglysticks waiting with uncontrollable angst to use our whalers. We have other pastimes that we do such as biking, skiing, water aerobics, hunting, voyeurism, etc that we might wish to do with other members here. Of course we will talk and discuss in great detail our boats and show some cute pictures but we can also converse about our other interests like skanky biker chics with tatoos and pierced body parts while we drink ourselves stupid.

I feel this is the correct section to post this thread being the moderator titled it as: "Classic Whaler: Trips and Rendezvous.
Reports of Trips taken. Ideas and suggestions for rallies or rendezvous." They key part being "ideas and suggestions for rallies and rendezvous". If I asked who is going to Piggly Wiggly for some liver Pate, it would be a blatant disregard for the "law". Being this is a rally and a possible rendezvous, it fits the said criteria. The criteria does not state that we need to bring our classic whalers with us. If they were having a Cheese festival in WI and you posted it here to see who would be attending, I think it would receive a warm reception as well.

If a memeber does not wish to comingle with other people, he/she should not read this section because it may be truly disturbing knowing what fun we are going to have without him/her.

Thanks for taking the time for the explanation, Nick. I certainly do understand where you were coming from, but still think you're stretching it a bit. I wonder if Jim's "Doctrine of Reciprocity" on the Meta Forum applies here?

Larry baby names are one thing....trying to get together with other forum members "outside" of a boating rendezvous is another.

Some do call me "The stretcher"! But only because I can kiss my toes.

I'm not taking sides with the most recent posts but I feel that it's not an inappropriate thread. It was, after all, clearly started by a very regular-contributing CW member.

And in my mind I made a "Whaler" connection first and just assumed it as another rendezvous sans boat. It doesn't happen often (going somewhere w/o a Whaler in tow) but every so often it's a nice break not to have to worry about a million details boating involves at the same time being around the same crowd.

Just me thoughts.

Yeh, what he said!!! and besides, inclusion of skanky biker chics and beer gets you a free pass in any forum in my mind!

(ps - sold the Harley, Ride Dirt, 46 years young!....bark tastes better than asphalt)

Hey Big, the Speedway has demo rides, and lots of activities, so there is something you can do on the mainland. I don't even go to Main Street anymore, just too many people. I do know all the good restaurants in DeLand though, and with little or no wait. All the food places in Daytona are usually packed, so give a call when you get up here...Take care
