There surely are some Boston area owners that would like to get together besides myself and Ryan. Lets do this.

Who's interested????

Hi Boston guys,
I'd be in for another try at a Boston area rendevous, but it would have to be after Labor day weekend. My OR 17 is showing off in Lake Umbagog ( on the northern NH/Maine line above Bethel, ME) until then. Our summer boating began with the original Boston Harbor trip, then several separate harbor trips, a trip from a Danvers ramp out by Marblehead and north from there, a couple trips around Portsmouth, NH and out to the Isle of Shoals, one day on the Merrimac river, and now vacation up in teh mountains on a pristine 15 mile long near wilderness lake (one gas pump fortunately). We'll be ready for some salt by September.

Are you for real?

You need to make the event a farther distance away.

Have a Rendezvous close to home and everybody figures "I'll go next time."

Have it on a remote island 650 miles away from the nearest major city, you'll get a gang!

Well,
If we are gonna have it 650 miles out on a island, I'll have to catch a ride with someone. :) My boat don't go where it can't see land. ;)

There is a nice island about 3 1/2 miles outside of Boston. Nothing is even on it yet. I see people camping out on it all the time.

The beach is very rocky, but this is MA, what do you want?

Its nice because their are rock piles that protect it from wakes, its a nice place to raft.

I went their once this year, I took my whaler and my Uncle and aunt took their 20' Maxum. We drove to the island and rafted, had a nice lunch, then walked around the island, went for a swim and came back.

I like it because its not that far, but you get away from the city. Even better 11's and 13's can still make the run.

Someone has to throw out a date, at least two weeks from today please. I'm going on vacation next week.

We'll all meet somewhere in the inner harbor and go to one of the islands. I don't like to drive in ruff water by myself, but tgresla and I can leave the dock together like last time.

C'MON LETS GO!!!

The summer will extend beyond August, unlike our dear home team... I'm in on this second try.

Our dear home team is doing what they've done almost as long as I can rembember,(but I'm young) they start out great, they it all go's to !@#$ when the playoffs come around. At least the Pats season is starting.

Okay,
Back to the rendezvou thing, Someone's got to pick a friggen date, it will never happen if we don't pick a time.......

Lets make it September 6, you pick the island.

Ryan,

What kind of Maxum does your uncle have? I plan on buying a Maxum 2300SC at the boat show this fall or next spring. I'll keep it up on Winnipesaukee to take the family out on weekends next summer. I think I'm going to trade in the whaler. I took it to Marina bay a few weeks ago and almost broke my back and chipped all my teeth in 2-3 foot chop. That 13 is not (emphasis on not) a smooth ride. I need a deep V for the ride so my wife will go out again and a cuddy for the kids to sleep. I'de appreciate any info you have on how happy your uncle is with the Maxum. Our friends have a 2100SC and love it.

My uncle's Maxum is a 20'1985 bow rider with a small block chevy V8.

He has had the boat for three years now. I always thought it was a "Galixey" But it turned out the name and title was changed from Maxum to Galixey.........I don't know why,,,,,,,,my guess is that he bought it hot.

He left it over my house for a week this spring so I could wash it up for him.

I go out on it about three or fore times a year. We go to hingham and the islands in the harbor.

I'll see if I can get you a ride in it before you buy one. I personally think the ruff water ride on a Maxums suck.

They are lake boats, no good for boston harbor. May be cool for Winnipesauk though.

How did you chip all your teeth? In the smaller whalers you've got to slow down in ruff water!!!!!

My dad and I took the 11' from Wells, ME to Portsmith, NH last week. That's about a 60 mile round trip, open ocean the whole way.

It you slow down in choppy water you won't get beat up so bad.

The last two years I've gone to the fall boat show by boat, We sneak into a little inlet and tie up, let me know it you want to go this fall.

I would not trade the 13-Newport, they won't give you jack for it, your better off selling it on your own. You should have no problem getting your money back.

I'll be there 9/6/03, even if its just Tim and me.

Hold up,

I may have to work on the 6th, but don't know for sure yet. I'll find out tomorow.

I had to work on the same day as the last one too, I was able to be back in time......but I broke a piviot bracket half way there, so that may be why.

As of now I'm a "standby".

Ryan,

I didn't really chip my teeth, I was just trying to describe how rough the ride was. Keep me posted on your schedule for the 6th.

Tim,
I found that out this afternoon. I was telling my dad you messed up your teeth.

Your wife fixed a few of his fillings or something this morning, he said that she did not know anything about it.

I'll know tomorow if I'm a go or not. I asked my uncle with the Maxum if he could go and he can't. Him and my aunt will be down the domican republic on vacation.

Sorry guys,

I've got to work on the 6th. Next time..........

ryanwhaler posted 08-27-2003 09:17 PM ET (US)     Profile for ryanwhaler  Send Email to ryanwhaler
Hold up,

I'm gonna try to work it out so I only have to work that night, so I'll have to be back in Burlington around 5 or 6.

This may shorten my day, but won't be a total loss.

Tim,
Where you launching? The same place as last time?

If I can go this is my plan:

I'll attach the boat up to my dads truck [Or car, whatever he's driving] Then leave the house around 7:30, If he has to stop at work they will tie my up for about another 30 mins. Then he'll drive me to Medford and launch the boat at presidents landing, then he has no time to waste, he'll have to rush back to work, with the trailer.

Thing is,
I must make sure he is able to get out of work when I'm ready to go home. Once the boat and I are out of the water I have to get back home, shower, put on a Tux and go get to work. [If would be a lot easier it I could friggen drive]

So,
That's my story, if all that shit works out, I'll be there.

I'll be launching at presidents landing and going up the the mistic river do I can put the boat threw its paces.

If its running good I may take it into the harbor.

Anyone gonna be around,,,,,or will you act like you don't know me because I won't have the whaler? :-)
