It's almost September! I thought I'd share my "excursions" with all of you, as most of them had to do with Whalers, friends, food, and drinks...
In late February, I grabbed a friend, LauraLee, and headed for Indianapolis, to visit my Mother. Road Trip! After the 8" of snow that dumped on us, I was ready to head back to Florida! No boating there that time of year! Our idea of dumping was the boat in the water. We came home, dumped the Whaler in the water, and fished the St. John's River. Got some really nice specks. A fish fry was in order.
In April, I grabbed a friend, Kimberly, and we headed south from DeLand, Florida, (neer Daytona) towards Stuart, Florida, for an Boston Whalers Owners Rendezvous and Fishing Tournament. We toted my classic 1973, 13'er. As we checked into our hotel, across from the main events, we were greeted by friends I have from the factory. Kimberly and I were the only boat to catch fish in-shore. We had 5 of us from the Wave there, including the infamous LHG to Backlash, Swellmonster, and Smirkless. From that point forward, I knew I was in for one great summer. "Southern Hospitality" at it's best, with friends and Whalers, food and drinks, and valet boat parking!
In May, I headed for Indianpolis for Mother' Day. First words from Mom were, "did you bring the Whaler?" I took a plane, so didn't boat that weekend.
In June, I headed down to West Palm beach, for a crossing of the "big lake" over to Green Turtle Cay in the Bahamas. I only spent a week there with my family, but had a real blast. I sold some B/W decals to the locals, who only have Whalers, and at least paid for my drinks most of the week:) (Had to come home for Speedweeks). Unfortunately, we didn't have anyone from the wave make the crossing with us, but maybe next year.
In July, it was Speedweeks time, again, and then came the Boston Whaler Lady Angler Fishing Tournament, sponsored by Boston Whaler. I didn't place, but my friend Kimberly, and cousin Jeanne and I had a great day of fishing off-shore. We were there, and got the t-shirt:)
In August, it was time for the biggest event of the summer. A total of 2868 miles. I headed north to Indianapolis again, picked up my brother David, and a 17' Dauntless, and went on up to the Lake Erie Rendezvous. We had 7 of us from the Wave there this time, Bugsy, Samars, WhalerNut, Dive1, Backlash, (go to see them twice this summer!), Barry, and me. There were beautiful waters, friendly people, and crappy weather, but all in all, we still managed to have good friends, Whalers, food and drinks. I know I have forgot some of the other Wave attendies, so sorry in advance. I won the poker run, with a nice trophy, and a nice plaque for the furtherest away.
Ahh...2 weeks to try to catch my breath, and it's Bristol time at the races. My husband has family in the Carolina's, so it's time to see Nanna, via Bristol. We meet friends from Indianapolis there every year, and camp for 4 days. Boy did that shower at Aunt Nancy's, in Ashville, feel good on the way home as well. I scoped several places to put my boat in next year and fish while Tommy play's disk golf at the park by the ramp.
I have managed to put about 5000+/- miles on that Chevy of mine this summer, and headed for Crystal River this weekend with the family on a fishing trip...so stay tuned, ...there's always an adventure with Janis, just ask Tommy:) Take care, Regards,
Janis

You ALSO forgot the shell key rendezvous in April when you and Tom brought that beautiful 24' Edgewater. Granted that it was only Swell, You, me, and BillC but what the hell?

What an adventure in Lake Erie! I think I am going to join the 'Janis Fan-Club' becuase I was always laughing when I am with you. Especially on our poker run and the so-call "dinner" we had that day along with a pleasent severe thunderstorm. You won 2 things and that was a trophy and a plaque. talk to ya later Janis

I just can't believe I forgot to mention the rendezvous' we had in Tampa, and the one on the St. John's. Blonde:)
What a blast we always have in Tampa, real good friends, alot of beer, and it's Florida, so there is always sunshine,
and if we let Big cook, we have sandy chicken ala carte;)
Yeh, I got to work for a living...so I better get back to it! Take care,
Janis

Your not pinning Pat's culinary expertise(or lack of:) on me. Actually it was the BBQ grill that kept coming lose, Pat had it installed wrong. We fixed it after the 3rd rinse in the ocean. When are you coming down and vice versa? We are gonna try another rendezvous when it gets a tad cooler....maybe Captiva or 10,000 islands.

I had nothing to do with hooking up that grill on front of that pontoon boat! :)
I set up my table, 2 chairs and a big umbrella!
Does anyone remember eating sand? Just a quick rinse in the water and a spritzing of beer was all in the marinade....
Janis, Im sure glad you forgot telling folks about CC sleeping quarters in the 20 Outrage....;)
