How about another get together? I've missed the last few, so I'm hurting for an excuse to get out on the water with some good people. Can't wait for Ryan to come down, so let's dream something up. The Suwanee River is still available.... |

Like I said, don't wait for me to come down. I don't think I'll have any free time to hang out with you guys this upcoming trip and if my highschool hockey team is in the playdowns that week I'm gonna stay home. As much as I'd like it, I don't think its gonna happen. We have family in FL and I'll be down to see them time in the near future. Its nreal how many of you get together down there, I wish we could pull an outcome like that up here! As long as you old people who go Florida to die stay around for a little while longer I'll come around. ;-) |

Hey Frank... Took the 130 to the Suwannee [Fanning Springs] yesterday. Wanted to introduce a new rod/reel to the local fish population. :) Got a little windy in the afternoon but the 80+° temps made up for it. Later... |

Stefan, I seen a couple of places for sale on the Cotee river. The place I seen said 30 minutes Idle speed to the Gulf. I wonder how far up that river to the low clearance bridges? I went to that seafood festival last year right I also looked farther north at Hudson beach. |

I was out on the Gulf on Saturday. About 75' and flat as glass. Did a quick dive in 57' water to look for some grouper but came up empty handed. Still turned out to be a great day for a boat ride. Beats sweeping the snow off the boat in the backyard anytime. Jarhead, glad to hear you out chasing fish on the Suwannee. Ought to try the Santa Fe sometime for Bass. I'll show you the way around. |

besides hooters, there's the crab shack, better food, live music, dock space a little tight though, also Catches, big restaurant, food's not that hot, but nice tiki bar. most of the boaters head out to the sand bar for the day (anclote) then on way home hit a few bars. no hotels right on the water w/ docks that I know of, plenty a few blocks off though (US 19) I like the homosassa idea. When are we going? Went off shore New Years day and got beat to hell on the ride in (not in a Whaler!) and ran the Dauntless up the St. John's Sunday from Lake Monroe to Hontoon and back. Would love to get together soon with everyone, pick a date and place- we can drive to either coast or wherever. Gotta finish installing new vhf- got a Ray53 radio the other night and have to hook up to gps for dsc to work. Crystal river is good and bigger but not as fun as Homo. MacRae's is like $75 AFTER tax, so probably like $65 night. I stayed at a cool place in Crystal river, right on the water with their own ramp and restaurant/bar. Was pretty cheap but not the Hyatt if ya know what I mean. They also rent boats there so would not be hard to find again. Suwanne sounds great but Too far for me and wife with her back.....no biggie, I can catch up with ya'll the next time. What about the Cotee river by Stefan? What about a nice big lake in Lakeland or somewhere? We can find some remote place and take it over ;) |

Pat(swellmonster) also suggested one on the manatee river by my house. We have a few CHEAP hotels and about 4 waterfront bars/restaurants and some great boating to be had. If you go East up the river it looks like you are going into a Bayou and is all fresh water and natural....more animals than people. If you go west you are in the Gulf in under 10 miles and have Eggmont key, Passage key(nude), and many other blue water/sandy beached destinations for snorkeling, etc. I have 120' of protected dock and all my neighbors have docks as well so parking overnight is NO BIGGIE! |

The rooms are on MY credit card so I need to know who is in and who is not so you can reserve and pay for your own room or I can cancel the ones we don't need. I am giving this till monday or I am cancelling them. Please let me know so I can give you their number, etc. There is a 48 hour cancellation allowance so EVEN if you want to go but are not 100%, you have plenty of time to cancel. |

Hi all. I cannot commit to that date for a full day. I may however, join you for a few oysters, crab and beer at the bar to get to know the crew here in Florida. Wade (Smirkless) and I will be riding together for the Gasparilla so maybe we will see some of you there. Please post your itinerary when it gets closer and the wife and I will stop by. They do have oysters at this place, right Nick? Chris: We live right near the entrance to the Wekiva Springs State Park. A great place because I have 5 golf courses within 3 miles of me (and no tourists). |

Dave they have Oysters and blue crab too. The Manatee is especially tastee along with monkey. No itinerary so to speak. We are meeting at say 10-11am and launching our boats. Cruise around then hit the springs and swim. Come back about 4pm to check-in and make dinner arrangements. To swing all the way there for a couple beers is a tad extreme. Most of us will be at Gasparilla. |

I have to do the wood on the console, install some backrest cushions, re-pinstripe under the windshield, put down the cooler supports, install the Pate 27, and buff and wax the interior....pretty close to done. The rubrail has also stretched a bit so I have to recut and screw down again at the stern. I still have not made the front windscreen yet but I will someday(have a broken one for a mold from another member here). Should be able to get most of it done by 3/6. MacRae's is kinda unique in that they charge ONE fee no matter WHEN during the year. So 4th of July is the same as MLK or March 6th....no blackout dates anotherwords. I doubt they will discount but it can't hurt to ask. If anyone else is reserving a room, ask if there is a discount being we are taking over their hotel for the night ;) |

This info is two years old so hope is still correct. DON't use their boat ramp as they charge. Use the one next to McRae's as it is county and free. Public parking is a block away. We might be able to do a dinner cooking thing being some have the kitchenette's to heat stuff up in. I will call and see if they allow BBQ's or have one for us to use. For lunch I think any of the many restaurant's are fine or we can bring a picnic basket with us. Just changed the Email address. It was my old one from Italy. Sounds like there have been a few BBQ accidents in the past. Couldn't have been Tequila related. This may be the biggest one yet!!!! Swell, don't worry. I'll have a cold one waiting for you in the a.m. Who's bringing the 12 volt blender? |

Bigshot, et al,
Now a few logistics questions: We are looking forward to seeing everyone and matching faces to names. We are excited about coming, and I have already printed out the directions from MapQuest -- 374 miles from Charleston!! WhalerAce & WhalerAce's Wife |

Whalerace - My wife Terreca, and I will be there on Friday as well. Our schedules have not allowed us to attend one of these prior to this so we're really looking forward to this one. We're anxious to meet all of you.
How does that sound? We'd need 3 or 4 of the cookers for this large of a group. What do you think? |

Team - If the vote is to do a community crab boil, I have two cookers I could bring... Janis - do you really want to be wafted with juvenile deer? Your stature as Whaler Queen requires the of palm fronds...:-) Al W. |

When is the Rendezvous? I don't want to re-read 90 posts to figure it out! |

Jimh....March 5th-7th. Ace....I still don't believe you are coming:) Ramp is good for your rig and they have trailer parking at hotel. Might even be able to get a free slip overnight if available. With this many boats, we might have to pull a few. I will have no problem with that for my rig. Bring a lunch just in case. Yes you can follow me. # is 941-545-3808. Cook-off/boil, etc sounds good to me. |

Had nothing to do this cold, rainy saturday so we drove out to MacRaes! The mapquest directions get you to homosassa but then suck the last mile or so. Glad we made a dry run without boat in tow, got circled around some little neighborhood 3x. Pretty easy if you follow the signs and not the map. Ramp looks nice and parking on site and large lot behind motel for trailer parking (county lot I guess). When we made reservations I was told we can dock boats in front of tiki bar overnight and seemed to be a lot of room. Boil sounds great, get a list and everyone bring something. If anyone is coming from Orlando or east/south maybe we can meet - Turkey Lake service plaza on the FL Turnpike in Orlando may be an idea. Hope to see everyone soon! Chris |

I will try to get a better map from my friends in Crystal River. They have a dive shop and should have maps or an online link. I'm going to start another thread just for participants to sign in as a definite or maybe so we don't have to go thru 100 posts. |
