While cruizing the creeks and rivers of the Annapolis area it's easy to believe that Whaler is the official small boat of the bay. Every other house has a whaler attached to it.
There's hundreds of them in Annapolis alone.

Why do we let the Florida guys have all the fun. We should be able to put together a great Whaler day (or two). Sandy Point would be a great place to start, or Kent Narrows.

The one in October may be a little too late in the year, weather never cooperates.

It could be centered around the Bay Bridge Swim in June, where Whalers are wanted to help the swimmers, or a late May June , July weekend.

Or coordinate it around the Chestertown Rdvz.

I'll gladly help coordinate. Need to see how much local interest. It's amazing how few Annapolis area Whaler owners participate in this site considering the number of Whalers. Anyone interested?

I have a whaler in the Annapolis area (Magothy River), and would be interested in some sort of a rendezvous. No preference on schedule. No suggestion on where. Lets see what response you get.

wow, there are whaler owners in the mid-atlantic. I am south-west on the Potomac. Chesapeake Bay Boston Whaler Club of Chesapeake Whalertown (Scott Leidig) seem to coordinate the Bay Swim and the Chestertown event whaler events. Those are the only two events I have heard about but there should be a list of planned events sent out soon.

As to why we let all the FL guys have all the fun. I think it has to do with the fact it's in the mid thirties outside now and when it's warmer it's raining. It's in the mid 70's in Miami :-)

It you have a place and dates when it's a tad warmer outside let me know and i'll try to make it.

Yepper! We be the big Boyz! ;)
If I lived up there, Id be whaling around as much as the weather permitted. Your locations have much to offer, unfortunately only 3-4 months of the year. Whats funny, your boating insurance still has to be paid year around..
Its great to live Florida! :)
Fly down here and do one of our events!!

3-4 months is a bit of an exageration. April to November-8 months. Can get iffy on either end

If I could get my Whaler on Southwest Airlines for $79, I'd come down

Steve-

I plan to make same "Tea Party" trip with Scott and other Whaler owners in mid Ches Bay area. I have Outrage 19 and launch at Sandy Point often. Make sure Scott has your email address. It will be a great time! Kevin

Hoping I can make it. Will probably have to go from S.P. cause the trip from woodbridge by boat would turn it into a 4+ hours.

Wow, A Whaler armada from Sandy Point to Chestertown.!!!

Sounds like a real good time... If at all possible, I would like to be a part of that one... I have only 12 gallons of gas (2 x 6 gallon) on board... I have never done a milage check before with the Bearcat... If needed I should be able to get gas at the marina in Chestertown, right.??

Yes, you can get gas in Chestertown. At Rolphs Marina and probably several others right in town. Kevin

I'm in for the Tea Party. Wife and kids love the festival and reenactment. It has become a traditionally stop on our trip from York PA to my Montauk’s summer digs in Ocean City MD. Thanks for your work Scott.

Regarding the Chestertown event, is there a place to stay near the Marina should we decide to overnight. Someone mentioned a place called Rolfe's or something like that.

Is that a hotel, does any know the aproximate costs. (I did a search on Rolfe's, so I guess that's not the name)

Here are a couple of links for Chestertown.
http://www.chestertown.com/
http://www.baydreaming.com/chestertown.htm

There is lodging in and around Chestertown but book early. The Chestertowne Tea Party is a fairly big event in Chestertowne so lots of folks come over for it.

Hey all..I have family in North East, MD They live right on the North East River...in a community called Charlestown. Not sure the ole 13 could do the ride up to the bridge. North East is where the Boat was originally bought and spent most of her 37 years.

It might be nice to bring my Whaler back to her ole stomping grounds...she was a crabbing boat back then.

What is the opinion of some of the people here?
