In the General Forum 2ndWhaler said: Gansett, A rendevous sounds good. With all the Whalers in this area I'm sure that there are others lurking on this site who might come forward. I am in Green Hill Pond and access the ocean via Charlestown Breachway. It would not be a problem for me to run around to Pt Judith Pond for a rendevous. There is a nice State owned ramp at the Great Island bridge, and a Town ramp at the head of the pond opposite the old South Kingstown Police Station on U.S. 1.

I'm moving the thread to this forum.

There's also a town ramp at the end of Pond Street, not far from the old police station (at Billington Cover Marina) but parking is a problem there, although I could put a few cars w/ trailers in my yard. The ramp you mention next to Hanson's Restuarant has plenty of parking.

There is a small island at that end of the pond, called Cummock Island on charts that could provide a tie up and picnic spot. There's a beach for the kids and place to build a hot-dog (or clambake) fire. There's a small fishing hole withing casting distance from the beach with schoolie stripers, squeteague and blues.

A popular "rafting" spot is across from Camp Fuller and two of the three islands up there are "public". Beach Island and Garner Island on charts. Its now a no-wake mooring zone, but it gets crowded with partiers.

Another spot to meet would be the beach just past Snug Harbor Marina just before Galilee. If we had a small turnout, say 1/2 dozen boats, we could meet at my place, I have an empty lot which make a great picnic site, but no dock (yet!). We have two permanent moorings and could probably tie up a few boats on the neighbors docks.

Oceanside, there are two possibilites. We can raft up in the hook of the outer wall of the Harbor of Refuge... no dry land though, or just off the beach at the base of the East Wall near the Pt Jude light.

Those with larger whalers might want to make a weekend of it with a trip to Block. If anyone is interested in a summer Whaler rendezvous in South County, please chime in.

depending on the day, and the weather, we might make a run
down from Warwick.

I posted this on another thread, but to attract RI Rendezvous participants, I'll post it here as well. Now planning a summer get-together somewhere on the pond.

Count me in. I'm in Montauk. Weekends in June & July are not good though. Mid week is fine, as is August.
