As some of you have read the notorious Bigshot aka Nick has retired from posting on the Wave and is off using his time on other things. So to show him our appreciation for his advice, friendship and overall great times at numerous gatherings I propose a get together at Beer Can Island right after the hurricane has passed and good weather returns. If you are interested in joining us post the dates that you would be available.

Beer Can Island is located between Longboat Key and Lido Key on the west coast of Florida. Sarasota - Bradenton
From the response it looks like we have a party!
Lets get together in the next couple of weeks, if everyone is game to shake off the hurricane blues and give Nick a formal bash and trash.

And I do think we should do the waterfront hotel thing, as I'm not driving all the way over there for a DUI.

There is a ramp between Longboat and Lido on the key right by the bridge.
I will be at the ramp Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

Kimberly, Julie a new mate and I will be down there sometime on friday, and stay thru the weekend.

We're in DeLand, just west 30 miles from Boston Whaler.
We are at the present time experiencing wind gusts, but not much rain. This tells me that this storm may spare us, again lord willing, but look out for it crossing the southwestern coast. Take care, and if you don't hear from me for a few days, it's because we are with power, AGAIN!!!

Ace, it was a classic Florida get together. Only nobody got hurt, arrested, or pregnant. At least for now. The weather was beautiful. The water was brown on account of our recent weather woes, but warm. Don (Inhernet) cooked up some fine sausages, brats, and hot dogs. Janice (Draftsmanswife) started watergun fights with the fastboat crews next to us. Pat(Swellmonster) found a mermaid. Chris and Michelle (cmarques) stayed out of trouble for the most part. Stefan brought his girlfriend and pissed her off almost imediately I think. Of course I was perfectly well behaved as I brought a drunk airline pilot along to entertain us. We did try to confiscate Nick's (Bigshot) continuous wave T shirt but he wasn't letting go...... Oh, we also got to see three pairs of well developed Florida ladies take their tops off as they were passing by our gathering. Of course, none of us really noticed them.

good fun, woke up with scrapes and bruises, not sure if they're from the tumble off the boat (thank god for sand) or rug burns-LOL
great seeing ya'all-did anyone catch any fish? besides the mermaids.
next time we should do anclote/cotee up my way-tarpon springs/new port richey. anclote island has a awesome sandbar over a mile long-lots of party time.
i got a few pics on my camera,if i can figure out how to link it, I'll put it on site

Had a great time. Had some trouble getting home without hitting ground but that is why God invented Skeggards. We kicked over 2 cases between 4 people....not bad. Glad everyone showed up and enjoyed the wonderfull day. Like Frank said...ya could NOT beat the weather, nor Don's cooking. Stefan's frozen shrimp were good as well until some chef decided to cook them...and I ate one!

I think we should have just call this event "Drunken Stuper Day". Had a great time, and I call for Don to be our official cook for all future events. We were going to burn Big's Wave shirt in a cermoney, but he wouldn't let us
We had 4 cases of beer and alot if rum. Pat, Julie and I had a great dinner close to the hotel afterwards.
It was good to see everyone...So, now for the Jacksonville run that Don talked about. I'll keep an eye on the river, and let you know when the idle zone is lifted and we can start planning.

I/we forgot to say say that we also consumed 2-3 cases of soft drinks, gatorade, chips, crackers and water too!
We aint total lushes, fwiw....

Sorry it's taken so long to reply here- we had a great time even if I kept my shirt on and stayed dry the whole time- may loosen up more next time. Boat broke again running across Sarasota bay on a late cruise, cleared and ran o.k. back to dock, ran aground across a shallow (sun in my eyes at sunset) and motor kept stalling trying to load on the trailer then got stuck in sand on ramp- And I was the SOBER one!!Couldn't complain though and will have a few pictures from the Kodak Queen soon <<you know who =)
We'll see everyone again soon.

Tarpon Springs sounds great, but the river is so long to get to the outside. I vote we hit Hommasassa again, or
the St. Johns' it's starting to drop. Don said something about a Jax trip around the intercoastal up to
St. Augustine.
I say we get together sometime soon, as I don't do water and cold at the same time, (unless I'm shrimping!) Also, how about a Christmas Party, Carribean style?

Hi guys, been monitoring the converstation, but finally got lost. Did you guys finally decide on New Port Richie? The 20th of December? We would like to try to come, if you don't mind. Will the weather still be warmish then?
Joyce got herself a 15' GLS the other day and is dying to go on a trip with it now. Would the 15 be big enough for us, or should we bring the Temptation?
Please put it in simple terms for me.

Forget the Temptation unless you want to leave it at my house for the winter. This freakin new GTO does not have a trailer hitch....NOR do they make one for it outside of the down under so looks like I might be putting a hitch on the Jetta Diesel which means....not sure what that means but not sure it can tow the Newtauk that far. I am game and I will borrow a truck being so close if I have to.

I used to trailer with a '69 Galaxie convertable that I had a custom hitch made for. All it took was a local welding shop and me telling them how I wanted it. Not a big deal. Better if i's bolted to the frame than welding. The heat from welding may compromise the frame's strength.

fno	posted 10-04-2004 10:20 AM ET (US) Ace, it was a classic Florida get together. Only nobody got hurt, arrested, or pregnant. At least for now. The weather was beautiful. The water was brown on account of our recent weather woes, but warm. Don (Inhernet) cooked up some fine sausages, brats, and hot dogs. Janice (Draftsmanswife) started watergun fights with the fastboat crews next to us. Pat(Swellmonster) found a mermaid. Chris and Michelle (cmarques) stayed out of trouble for the most part. Stefan brought his girlfriend and pissed her off almost imediately I think. Of course I was perfectly well behaved as I brought a drunk airline pilot along to entertain us. We did try to confiscate Nick's (Bigshot) continuous wave T shirt but he wasn't letting go...... Oh, we also got to see three pairs of well developed Florida ladies take their tops off as they were passing by our gathering. Of course, none of us really noticed them.
stefan	posted 10-04-2004 10:54 AM ET (US) good fun, woke up with scrapes and bruises, not sure if they're from the tumble off the boat (thank god for sand) or rug burns-LOL great seeing ya'all-did anyone catch any fish? besides the mermaids. next time we should do anclote/cotee up my way-tarpon springs/new port richey. anclote island has a awesome sandbar over a mile long-lots of party time. i got a few pics on my camera,if i can figure out how to link it, I'll put it on site Stef

We kicked over 2 cases between 4 people....not bad. Glad everyone showed up and enjoyed the wonderfull day. Like Frank said...ya could NOT beat the weather, nor Don's cooking. Stefan's frozen shrimp were good as well until some chef decided to cook them...and I ate one!

We were going to burn Big's Wave shirt in a cermoney, but he wouldn't let us We had 4 cases of beer and alot if rum. Pat, Julie and I had a great dinner close to the hotel afterwards. It was good to see everyone...So, now for the Jacksonville run that Don talked about. I'll keep an eye on the river, and let you know when the idle zone is lifted and we can start planning. cmarques	posted 10-09-2004 06:34 PM ET (US) Sorry it's taken so long to reply here- we had a great time even if I kept my shirt on and stayed dry the whole time- may loosen up more next time. Boat broke again running across Sarasota bay on a late cruise, cleared and ran o.k. back to dock, ran aground across a shallow (sun in my eyes at sunset) and motor kept stalling trying to load on the trailer then got stuck in sand on ramp- And I was the SOBER one!!Couldn't complain though and will have a few pictures from the Kodak Queen soon <<you know who =) We'll see everyone again soon. This freakin new GTO does not have a trailer hitch....NOR do they make one for it outside of the down under so looks like I might be putting a hitch on the Jetta Diesel which means....not sure what that means but not sure it can tow the Newtauk that far. I am game and I will borrow a truck being so close if I have to. Saturday the ?
jflots	posted 11-08-2004 10:54 AM ET (US) Judge, I used to trailer with a '69 Galaxie convertable that I had a custom hitch made for. All it took was a local welding shop and me telling them how I wanted it. Not a big deal. Better if i's bolted to the frame than welding. The heat from welding may compromise the frame's strength.
