Picking up a thought I read of jimh's in the Meta Forum, I am wondering if anyone like Jim Haupt or others down there in N.O. has access to the New Orleans Yacht Club as a possible Lake Pontchartrain Rendezvous site. Also wondering if slip, over-night storage and/or dockage can be accommodated there for a dozen or so boats. jimh's stated purpose is to entice Hooter in front of a camera, but a Rendezvous would seem an appropriate way to greet our CW host if he comes to town.
Avoiding the seasonal weeks, it would have to be either early December or after New Years. Of course, early Mardi-Gras season is an alternative. This might need to be a full canvas kind of event out on the lake, but winter months down here can be nice, too. Alternatives that include redfish and ducks might take place down at Venice. Any other thoughts, interest?
If you think this is a crazy idea, say so, but jimh says he is up for a winter road trip. Most of us do know how to dress for the weather, and our winter will be like spring or summer for our snowbird friends. Since Mr. Hooter seems more discreet than Sasquach, I am not holding hope of meeting him, personally, but it could happen.

I think our recent trip to the Lighthouse Festival in Alpena used up the remainder of my unallocated vacation time this year. But I would be seriously interested in a trip to New Orleans to see that Work Boat Show some year.
