Sunday, January 30, at Dana Point Marina, in Dana Point, CA.

Festivities will commence at 1 pm, and continue until we're done! The actual christening will take place at 2 pm. We'll provide food and drink.

We will have greeters at the gate-controlled parking lot and dock to admit you between 1 and 1:30 pm. If you plan to arrive later than 1:30, please email me for my cell phone number. Then you can call as you're arriving and we'll dispatch someone to let you in.

Our boat is in the East Basin, Island Side, Dock A, Slip 36.

Please drop me an email if you can come--we don't want to run out of refreshments! I'll reply with the cell number and more detailed directions, if you need them.

Thank you for your invitation. Being on the East coast makes it a bit difficult to attend. I will, however, Make a point of raising my glass at 4pm est on 1/30/05 to toast your wise selection of vessel.

Thank you, Mike. I'm sorry you're too far away to join us.

We just returned from a week in Ohio, and I tried to convince my husband's 87 year old great-aunt to come home with us so she could be here for the party...but she wouldn't come with us. Oh well.

I haven't heard from any CW folks yet, but it will be a lovely day in any event.

While you were in Ohio you should have stopped in Toledo and personally handed me that paid round trip ticket so I could have attended your
christening .

Sorry for that, Jerry! We were in Celina, not too close to Toledo.

Sheila,
If I were close enough, I would be R.S.V.P..ing you in a heartbeat. I do wish you a wonderful day and hope you don't chip the gelcoat with that bottle of bubbley.

Happy Christening,

Mike

Just wanted to sign the electronic log book and say that I wish we lived closer so that we could attend the christening of your beautiful boat. Please visit us if you ever pass through North Carolina.

I'm somewhat closer, Sheila, but can't make it down from Santa Rosa. We're in the middle of a month-long trial, and while I'm not lead attorney in this one I'm still at court three or four hours per day, holding down the office the rest of the time, and prepping witnesses/writing motions/working on closing argument nights and weekends.

Like many others at this site, I've read with pleasure your posts regarding your new Whaler, and have especially enjoyed the wit and give-and-take riposte of much of your commentary. I too will be lifting a symbolic glass Sunday afternoon to you, yours, and to your fine boat.

Best regards, smooth seas, calm winds, and tight lines,

Tony

Aw, gee, guys, thanks! Today has been an unusually difficult day here in our home and your warm words go a long way to lift the spirits.

At this point I haven't had a "yes" reply from anyone here on the forum, but we'll have plenty of friends and family in attendance all the same.

In case any of you local guys are still on the fence, I thought I'd post our menu for the occasion:

Grilled skewers of marinated beef
Grilled skewers of marinated chicken
Chilled shrimp with my famous spicy cocktail sauce and lemon wedges
Cheese spread (my husband's specialty, homemade) with assorted crackers
Chilled grapes

Assorted beers, red and white wine, soda, juice, and water.

Jerry, my dear, we didn't plan the menu for shipping....I'm afraid those shrimp would be pretty nasty by the time they arrived!

My beloved MIL asked me to bring weather with me when we went home last week. We took her a bushel of lemons off our tree.

Would you like some lemons? They ship nicely....

I hope you have a great party. I would love to attend but it's a bit of a drive. Instead I will stay home, watch the Super Bowl and toast your christening from here.

Dick,

Unless you've got some sort of new Einsteinian time-travelling TIVO, you sure ain't gonna be watching the Super Bowl tomorrow while Sheila's christening her fine classic Whaler.

Best regards, old teach,

Tony

Here and I was going to ask Dick how it went, then head to the Sports Book before the 6th!

'Tis true, Dick...for once that infernal game isn't on my birthday--it's on my sister's birthday instead this year.

But in any event, you are all so kind to wish us well. Enjoy your remote toasts tomorrow. We'll be thinking of you, as well.

The actual christening will be at 2 pm.

And now I must get back into my kitchen.

Jack, we were running a bit late, too. I believe it was about 3:30 PST when I whacked that bottle across the bow...so you were not far off the mark! For a full report, look in the GAM for Tony's post, "So what did you name her?"
