I need some recommendations for mooring and lodging in San Francisco Bay.

I'm thinking of boating from Sacramento to San Francisco Bay. I would like to find a nice place to moor my Montauk overnight and also be able to find nice hotel nearby.

I'm all ears.

Thanks,
Warren

You can check Sausalito or Sam's in Tiburon. Sam's has guest dock and there's a hotel next door, but I don't know what the policy is for overnighters. http://www.samscafe.com

There are a couple of marina's in Sausalito that may offer guest moorings, and the hotels are generally within walking distance.

Cass Marina (415) 332-6789
Clipper Yacht Harbor (415) 332-3500
Richardson Bay Marina (Kappas Marina) (415) 332-5510
Schoonmaker Point Marina (415) 331-5550
Sausalito Yacht Harbor (415) 332-5000

Good luck.

No overnight docking at Sams, but that is not really enforced. Considerable surge, though...I cringe when I leave the 17-Montauk there overnight.

I rented an overnight slip at Clipper Yacht in Sausalito for the NorCal Whaler Salmon tournament. Nice folks, good facility and it's a reasonable walking distance to restaurants, inns and hotels in town.

A few years ago, the Rendezvous was held in the bay, and lodging and docking were at a hotel in San Leandro. I missed it that year, but Jim Hooper (Hoop) could give you the details.

Thanks for your responses.

South Beach Marina has guest docking for $1/foot per night. Maybe I can hangout at McCovey Cove to fish out a Barry Bonds homerun.

A CW member has also graciously invited me to be his guest at the San Francisco Yacht Club in Tiburon. What a great guy.

I've been to San Francisco a zillion times but never have seen it from a boater's perspective. I can't wait until a nice weekend for the trip.

I wouldn't recommend the San Leandro thing for someone who
wants to go to the City. It was a really snotty ride to
Angel Island -- Linda and I had actually discussed bringing
our drysuits, and regretted that we didn't.

Regarding staying in San Leandro, I agree with Chuck!
