As the original thread is getting long and stupid..... Put your name down on this one, include a phone# if you want, and any other special needs like a rubber duck, laxatives, a vinyl patch kit(for inflatable pets), special meals (good luck). All of this so we can have plenty of door prizes on hand. If you can find the door on Beercan, we will give you a prize....

Waiting on response from The Judge, but Joyce & I are planning to come and bring the 15' GLS. Want to do the ICW run from Nick's house. I mean, if you're gonna boat . . .

Have reservations at the Holiday Inn Waterfront in Bradenton.

Our cells for the trip will be

Zotcha, maybe we can meet up somewhere around the Georgia border? We are traveling sometime Friday morning. Great to see someone else from South Carolina doing the trip.

We beare coming nor how many boats but mine will be the only there with flying colors. Not sure how many are coming nor how many boats but mine will be the only Whaler.

Ace, change your reservation, hotel is not boat friendly. Read my e-mail reply.

Pat, I have a 12V compressor, should I bring it?

Frank et all....whoever is meeting at my pad let's try for say 9am so we can get there about 10:30 by the time we launch etc. If you are arriving friday during daylight hours, let's launch and tie at my place Friday so we are ready to roll. Maybe we'll go to the local waterfront bar/restaurant friday night, only about 1/2 mile from my canal.

We will probably trailer over by Nick's place and follow down.

What's wrong with Holiday Inn? We've stayed there 2x with boat overnight in a slip and no problems. You are talking about the Sarasota-Bradenton airport one right?

I tried to get a salesman from MarineMax to come but he has to go to the Miami boat show that weekend. He did say that they are having a trip to Don Pedro Island on the 26th if anyone is interested. Unfortunatly I'll be back up in the frozen Northeast.

Its too darn cold to sleep on an open vesssel! I dont care how many fuzzy sheep and videos ya have aboard, ya need a hotel room. As I posted earlier, Holiday Inn Sunspree at the Skyway, for me.

Marine Max in Sarasota is a joke. They are mainly a Sea Ray dealer but they sell a couple Whlaers here & there. They had a big picnic on Beer can about 3 years ago with a tent and everything. I pulled up in my Montauk and went to go check it out. They asked if I was a memeber of their club and if I bought it from them. I said no and they asked me to leave.....members only. I have never stepped foot on their property since. But that is just my experience.

This salesman just moved down from Ohio or Penn. He seems like a good guy( yeah,I know he is still a salesman).
I had filled out a trade-in questionare on the MarineMax website to see what they were giving for trade-ins on an Outrage 18. He has been trying to see my boat to set up a side deal and sell me a new Whaler for about two months now. I'm not sure I want to sell it ( of course if the deal was right I'd sell).
If what you described happened to me it woud have turned me off too. Your word of mouth about what owners can expect years down the road is worth more than the price of admition to a beach party. What a loss on thier part.

Welcome to our....................event.....

We all look forward to whalerbuds!

Nick, FWIW, I stopped in at the waterfront bar by your house last night, late, to check slip availability, and the sleep inn hotel next door, they are BOOKED all February! THey mentioned being busy at the Desoto Speedway...Sounds like rooms are scarce!

The Judge posted 02-09-2005 12:22 PM ET (US)     Profile for The Judge  Send Email to The Judge
There are few hotels in the area. Sleep in came to mind being new and waterfront. They do NOT have slips though, nothing on the manatee river does.

Myakka....if you want to sell your 18', private party will beat any dealer. Blue book on a boat is a joke.

Since a few are staying at hotels nearby on Friday, I was thinking we should get together either at a local waterfront bar/restaurant if boats are floating early enough or have a BBQ @ my pad and those who want to can come by boat and leave there overnight so we don;t have to be bothered launching on Saturday.

Please state if/when you are coming and if you want to do something.

Friend from NJ is coming in on Friday as well so she is gonna stay at her mothers(have her trained:). We can meet at my place being Frank has to park his boat there, etc and head out from there. Depending on tide, don't know where we will launch but I think tide should be OK. Whoever is coming down Friday, e-mail me the details, etc.

O.K. I'm Out. Sorry. Will make one this year. New outboard application has become a major freakin' nuisance. Wood is not complying at all. Scratch me out of this one, let me regroup. May be going to the OBX to get a custom transom mount built at cost. 500 miles with an outboard hangin' improperly to get it right it. New mounts ain't close and boys want to lag bolt into the old transom. I don't think so! May travel to have a custom built aluminum transom "saver" built because now they are saying twice as much torque from four vs. two stroke. What the #^@*???? Over? zot.

Chris, I'll throw it in the boat. It's ugly looking as it's been lying on my slab (concrete) since March. Still works though. We'll dicker over the price, I'm sure. Don't worry, it still keeps the leaves out.

Nick,

We are heading out from Charleston around 0800 on Friday. Mapquest directions to your house say it's an eight-hour trip, so I guess we'll be at your house around 1730 (gotta have a gas break and lunch somewhere in there).

We have changed our reservations to the EconoLodge on 67th Street Circle East in Bradenton -- they are supposed to be about three miles from your house. Got a great internet rate of $61.00 nightly.

What can we bring to contribute? Happy to pay for part of a keg if you want. Looking forward to Friday night get-together somewhere and the Saturday rendezvous.

That was a blast.

This event has been the largest so far, 13 boats, and great weather for February, plenty of food, drink and laughs.

FNO, The Judge – Great Fun! As always you guys are tops to party with thanks for organizing this.

Stefan – Thanks for the cigars- I hope we embarrassed you enough, but that’s what you get for bringing the Hottie. See you in March.

Bob, Bob and the Wicked Weasel – You guys rock. Let’s party in Naples next.

Myakka – Glad to have you in the neighborhood, I will send pictures of the paintings to you and your Watergate Krew when I “Get-Her-Done”.

Is there a time when you can have too much fun? Not with the Continuous Wave Florida West Coast Chapter.

Gotta add our THANKS to all for a great time. You are a really great group of people to be with. That was a perfect place for the rendezvous, as well.

I had never really thought about exactly WHERE the Daytona speedway was, but 21 miles west of it on I-4, the traffic just came to a STOP!. It took about two hours to go those 21 miles, and once we cleared the I-4 / I-95 loop, traffic took off again. So there is something to get excited about other than Whalers? Hmmm.

Again, thanks to Nick for the hospitality. Just can't tell you how much fun we had on Saturday.

I'm off today for West Palm beach and later Andros, but will be without a boat, so I guess it's Coronas for me instead. You guys have it great down there with the beautiful water and sand. Enjoy!

AWESOME turnout! Nice to meet a few new CW members as well. Was good to see a few showed up that did not reply like Ward. Again it is amazing to me that we never get a boat over 21 or 22' and most that show are classics. I see a LOT of newer whalers on the waters down here and may bigger 28' conquests and such, would be nice if some of them showed as well but I guess they are too busy working to make the payments then to relax and have some fun :)

I believe the mix was a 19' outrage, 2 18' outrages, a 21' outrage, a 20' outrage, a 170 montauk, a 17' montauk, 17' newtauk, a 16' nausett, a 16' Dauntless, a 15' GSL, a 13' sport and I am forgetting another Whaler that was parked next to Don's 170. There was also a 23' SeaCraft and a 20' Mako(TampTom) that showed as well. Plus my 15" SeaRay showing off the efficiency of electric fuel alternatives:)

Wished the day would have lasted another few hours...seemed to go by pretty fast. I am going to try for Stefan's but it is the wife's B-Day that weekend so we'll see. Can't wait to do it again and don't forget about Stuart and Sarasota events in May...they are a blast and free food & T-shirts!

We had a great time- got a little wet coming back but kept up with the 'big boys' getting the prop out of the water a few times! I'm glad we got to meet some new friends and it's great to see people coming from so far to get together especially David Jenkins and Whalerace for furthest travelled this time. Hope we can all get together again soon. Thanks again to everyone who came and made this a great event!

Thank you everyone for the great time. My passengers, Doug and Casey, loved it. They will be back ( as will I). I think Doug has the furthest distance thing hands down. He came from Petaluma Ca.

Mike, I did not realize at the time that you were "Myakka." And Chris, I did not realize that you were cmarques. We needed nametags so that people could more easily make connections between names and CW aliases!

Nick, thanks for the help with the trailer. And back at your house, your thoughful wife invited my daughter in for a shower before our long ride home. Many thanks to her for that!

Ace, thanks for the help connecting the radio antennae to the VHF. Unfortunately it all fell apart later that day but you did mention something about a disclaimer when you took on the project!

Stefan, your girlfriend is beautiful and sincere--what a great couple you make!

If anyone is interested in making a week-long trip in August up the ICW from the Atlantic coast of Florida to North Carolina, count me in!

I think Captain Underpants should be renamed "Done the frigg'en Juan!"

You all were right, it was a great time again!
And my newly aquired inflatable "Lamby" even comes with her own patch kit. You all are so thoughtful! Just a dozen or so puffs of air and she is ready to pounce! I think she will attend Stefans event!
Who gave the "Loving Lamb" to me anyways?
I burned up maybe 60 gallons of fuel that weekend. I went back out Sunday, picked up Chains and Bruce, went to Shell Key, and a few local establishments. I threw an extra $20 in fuel to be safe, but at $2.85 a gallon, I didnt get much.
Yepper, the Florida gang or the "FWC" rules again!!
Great time, good cigars, everything was awesome!

I can't help but keep thinking about that outing. Damn near perfect. Still having a hard time finding enough time to post anything here but wouldn't have missed this event even if I was Dale Jr. ... well... okay maybe so. What a great group of friends and getting to know everyone... as much as I can recall after several cool ones. Look forward to the next one! Smirky
