Anyone up for a trip to the Detroit Boat Show, maybe lunch before or dinner after ? I'm available for Saturday Feb 19th, or if we just get a few of the locals I could go for an evening during the week...

I'm game if it is on Saturday the 19th. I'll be out of town all week so that is the only day I can make it.

I will be going to the show on Wed. the 16th after work (probably around 4 PM). That is the only night I have available next week.

I had a good time at the show last year and would like to catch up with you again. Always nice to see the side by side comparison of the boats. Unfortunately the week is busy and I'll be in Tawas for the week-end.

Good show. Worth seeing.

Isn't the Detroit show mostly "booze 'n crooze" blob boats, mostly in stern drive version, and aluminum and bass boats? The Chicago show sure is, and a total waste of time.

Yeah I went yesterday, and the boats are smaller than ever.

Tons of pontoons and aluminum boats, inflatables, etc. Only about 8 Whalers. The biggest boat was a 48 Sea Ray with a line waiting to get on since there was nothing else there. All the go-fasts were gone also, only a few Fountains, Sunsations, and two Cigarettes. Very dissapointing. I went through the whole show in less than 2 1/2 hours.

The only good thing was I took my wife on a 170 Montauk and she liked it, so I know she will love the 1985 Montauk I am getting this weekend

The Detroit show did have alot of the "booze 'n crooze", bow riders, tin cans and bass boats last year. Also had a real nice Hinckley, a fair representation of Scout boats, motors, electronics, trailers, accessories and a couple of half way decent models:-). It was a good opportunity to put a few faces and names together and have something to eat. A nice little break from the mid-winter crud.

Sorry I've been out of town and still am. I'm still looking at Saturday for the show, I'll drop you a line Wednesday evening when I get back in town. It is a lot of Booze N Cruise boats but I just want to see something associated with water other than the 18" of Ice I chopped through last weekend up at my cottage....

I'd be happy to go visit my new Montauk on Saturday! I'm available after Noon.

Oh forgot to mention that I was there yesterday and it was my first time down there so I can't compare it to anything. There are a fair number of CC's from various makers (BW, Key West, Scout, Everglades, Monsoon, Persuit, etc.) Also lots and lots of "drinking boats", pontoons, etc. Definately a nice break from the Winter ho-hum though. As I mentioned in another thread, I bought a new Montauk, contingent on trade value of my 130.

Hello everyone, Don and RoyBoy in particular, I hate to do this but unfortunately the Cold/Flu that has been going around caught up with me late last night and I'm going to be out of commission for a couple of days, I was looking forward to going to the boat show, but no one would want to be around to catch this thing....believe me....have fun, talk to you later
