Well with all the talk about the IR trip I'm feeling left out because I can't go. So I thought I would bring up the possibility of a little weekend trip to the Door??? We've been meeting there for about 4-5 years now and I would hate to miss out this year. As usual, when??? I was thinking about July8-10. Any comments??? Anyone intereested????

Paul? That you? Well, I've got 3 weeks left here at the City and I'm officially retired. You can bet I'll be in Door County for any get-togethers. Just set a date. It's always been a great time. I figure to spend as much time as I can up there this summer, since I don't have to worry about running out of vacation time any more...

Congrats to you Dennis,
you're going to have plenty of play time this summer
to put some miles under that hull.

I would love to join you guys in Door Co.,
and do intend at least a trip or two up there this year with the Outrage.

Unfortunately, I'm not able to go that weekend as it
immediately precedes my LOTW trip with the small boat.

If I recall, I've had this same conflict the last several years.
Perhaps I'll be able to hook up more informally in August,
unless you all are in the Apostles then...

We're in. I'll double-check the dates with Patricia.

Hello Door County rendezvous vets...Share with me what a rough itinerary would be for the period you have set aside. To include: Launch site, destinations, accomodations, etc. Likely, we will try to make it in our 15' SS, with a completely refinished interior! Hal of Waseca

Hal: Last year we met at Sister Bay Marina motored up to Gill's Rock and gassed up and prepped for crossing to Washington Island. Traveled around Washington Island to Rock Island. Rafted up in the harbor at Rock Island State Park, barbecued, socialized, explored. Headed out around the back side of Rock Island, back down past the eastern side of Washington Island, thru Death's Door, back to the Door peninsula, and Sister Bay. I believe Dave Pendleton logged the distance as 56 miles total. If the weather's too heavy, I prefer cruising to Peninsula State Park (about 5-6 mi). There's a number of sheltered bays there. Also, Chambers Island (about 6-8mi.) is a nice trip with easy anchorage and rafting. I've done the Washington Island crossing in 2 different 13's, a 15 and the Dauntless, and (picking your day) it's quite easy. I just keep a wary eye on the weather.

Thanks for the interest shown so far. I know a lot of people can't plan ahead and others have to have 8weeks notice to get a day off. I happen to be one of the 8 weeks notice. So after talking with a few folks its been decided that the weekend is July 8-10. The place is Sister Bay. As in the past we will meet at Husby's friday night to figure and plan what we will do on saturday. Door County is very popular in the summer so I would suggest getting your reservations early. I know in the past its been a scramble to get slips for boats and if there are more that 4 in your group to get hotel accomodations can be tricky. The phone number for Sister Bay Marina is 920-854-4457. you can go on the internet under Door County Chamber of Commerce to find accomodations. When it gets closer to July I will post again to bring things up to date.

Hello, I just wanted to get the thought of Door County Wisconsin in everyones head again. Here are our plans so far.

The Hotel reservations are made for July 8-10. BUT the bloat slip is another story. Sister Bay Marina was booked for all the transient slips for that time but said if We showed up at 7 am we would probably get a slip. Dave Pendelton said that he believes if we show up at 7 we will get a slip. I am nervous about that and just to be sure Paul wants me to check into Yachtworks. I will do that tomorrow. I'm looking forward to July.

The Marina manager told me that if you have your nose pressed against the door at 0700, you'll get a slip.

The reserve a dozen or so slips for first-come, first-served.

I think we'll be fine.

Well David, I think I am going to leave it to You and Paul to get the slips early in the morning. I will send all the boys and by the time the Dock Master gets to the door it should be full of nose prints from all you guys. They'll probably just give you slips so the boys get cleared away from the door. Do you think we will have time on Friday to go to the bowling alley for their Fish Fry??? I think we should try it one of these years. See you both soon!!

I'm in for the fish fry at the bowling alley. It's always been a great one. Maybe a stop at Husby's before or/and after...

I thought you sold your boat?

David, I did sell the Dauntless. You didn't think I'd be without a Whaler, did'ja? Bought WhaleTosh's 2002 130 Sport last Fall. Realizing I'll be the littlest guy (boat-wise anyway) at the rendezvous, I volunteer for "mascot". See you in Sister Bay for sure....
