This trip was on April 9 - 16, 2005 with the Lake Hartwell Power Squadron. We had to trailer down about 480 miles (one way). Out of the 9 boats, two were Whalers, the “Toy Too” a 1992 27WA and the “Ad man” a 1988 22 Revenge with a custom hardtop.

We put in at Homosassa Springs, and went down to Tarpon Springs the first day. We fished along the way enjoying the great weather we were having.

The next morning we left Tarpon Springs and ran outside fishing running to John’s Pass where we stopped for lunch at Gators. After lunch we were on to Bradenton via the ICW.

The next day we head south to Venice, to the Crow’s Nest Marina. We had the good fortune of birthing near Jim Gibson and his beautiful Whaler “Memory”.

From there back north to Bahia Beach resort. The wind had picked up to 15 -20 from the North West and Tampa Bay was a mess with about a 3 chop. The Toy Too handled it very well; we had 3 other boats in our wake all the way up.

The next morning we went to Caladesi Island. This is a place that everyone needs to visit! There are no roads going to this island. You can visit by catching a ferry at Honeymoon Island or by your on boat. The docks are top notch with power and water, and surrounding scenery is something else!

With 21 sustained and gust to 30 we decided not to make the 40 mile open run back to Homosassa, but ducked into Tarpon Springs and loaded from a very nice state park.
