We plan to arrive in Biloxi the night of the 16th or the afternoon of the 17th.

We will most likely be at Point Cadet Marina with Down the Drain and the 21.

We will also have a car at the marina so anyone coming by water and needing a ride to the store , we can help out.

I think we still have a couple of slips we can use at the Beau Rivage and it's my understanding you don't have to stay there to use the slips

There will be at least 3 other whalers coming over from Gautier.

As for rooms I think the casino hotels fill up on the weekends so you may want to book early.

There will be between 2 and 6 in our party and the youngest children will be in their 20's

We plan to arrive early enough so that none of our group watches me launch and stay long enough so no one sees me retrieve. With the Revenge, it still ain't pretty!

But seriously... :)

We will arrive middle of the day on Friday, June 17 and will launch at the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor, where we have reserved a slip for two nights. We will be leaving the tow vehicle and trailer in the BSCH lot (must be attached to leave the trailer in the lot, I was told) and walk across the street to sleep at the Beach Manor Inn.

We may leave on Sunday, June 19, or we may decide to hang around in the area a day or two longer.

Look for us in the 1980 V-22 Revenge, the "Sweet Samantha." We're two adults and Sam, who'll turn two years old on Sunday the 19th. Y'all will sing Happy Birthday to her, won't you? She'll love it and love all of you for it.

Any chance Hooter will show up? I'd love to see a 25 Outrage Cuddy in the flesh.

In other developments, I think we will visit the Point Cadet Marina in Biloxi on Saturday, May 14, to attend the wooden boat show set for that weekend. That's just a day trip.

2Many,
I'm in. Will be arriving I guess mid to late afternoon Friday. I still need to book a place to bunk out for the night. Maybe that Beach Manor Inn will work, I'll look on the web Monday.

I forgot to ask, you think my 1978 Evinrude will be able to run in Mississippi Water? I've run in Louisiana and Texas water OK, just not sure about that Mississippi stuff.

All,

I will be unable to attend the Event.

Pack out that week for the movers. Fathers day as well and I need to give Paw Paw some time with his Grandson as we won't be here for the next three weeks.

Have a great time!

Congrats to our newly elected Councilman - 2many! Next step Congress. (hey if Cooter can be elected, why not a Pirate!?)

I'm packing up and heading over and it would be great to finally meet you and all the CW folks over in Biloxi.

I ran into a buddy of mine who runs a local New Orleans Hooters. They are doing a calendar shoot in Biloxi that weekend at the Casino. I told him about our Whaler run and he said they'd love to jump in the Whalers and cruise around. Oh, there will be free beer and hot wings, too.

What's the boat count again?

Knot,
Moving must be contagious. My wife signed the lease papers for Commerce, Texas yesterday. We move either the second to last, or last weekend in June. Why must we always move when it is so DARN hot???

Well, now my r-vous is up in the air. Let me check with my lovely spouse to see what the plans are.

Thanks!

Anyway, since you won't be going and all, maybe we shouldn't rub it in. Besides your wife, the questions.....

I've updated my photo album, a link is in my profile.

Very nice Capt Dawg.

To All:
I will be emailing my cell and home phone numbera to those that reply here. Jeff probably will also.

First rendezvous point is the west tip of Deer Island, on the inside facing the mainland. http://myweb.cableone.net/barney9014/images/17/26.jpg
That is the Beau Rivage Casino in the background.

Hopefully we will be able to make it out to Ship or Horn Island later. Otherwise up the river maybe.

Do we have a portable gas grill with in the group? That worked great last year. Jim

We are due to arrive in Biloxi Friday afternoon from Jackson. We plan to stay in Biloxi with relatives. We will bring our '95 Dauntless 17. It'll be the first time we have put her in saltwater. I will have my wife Val, and two daughters Ashley (12 yrs. old) and Courtney (8) with me. I hope to bring a small grill. Please include me in the list to receive phone number and email addresses and I will provide mine. I hope the skeeters aren't too bad on Deer Island.

Still looking forward to seeing you all. We will also bring a small grill. Capt. Dawg, your little one is a doll and looks like she has a ball on your beautiful boat. Love those blue interiors and the wood! Our Samantha will be 1.99 years old, and I'm certain they'll enjoy each other a lot.

Is the Deer Island rendezvous point for Saturday morning. What time? What about Friday evening?

Please e-mail me cell phone numbers. Ours (as I perhaps foolishly publish this on the Internet) is 251-648-1708.

Would need to know how many so I could reserve a couple of tables. There are outside tables if we will have any loud folks.

What is a good time to meet Saturday, 9:30 or 10:00 that morning?

Also does anybody have a place where they would like to eat that Friday? Jim

They do have a dock. I might come by water. There are PVC marks almost straight north out from the dock to Bayou Bernard. Stay just on the east side of those marks. Jim

We're talking about Blow Fly for Friday evening, right? Assuming it's dark when we break up, would it be fairly easy for me to navigate by water back to the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor (where our slip will be) from the BFI? If so, we may come by boat as well.

Haven't had a chance to figure out exactly where the Blow Fly is in relation to other points of interest.

2manyboats posted 05-26-2005 07:51 PM ET (US)     Profile for 2manyboats  Send Email to 2manyboats
Mike if we get to Biloxi Thursday night or Friday morning we will most likely go to the blow fly by boat . I would think it is a 20 to 30 min. run from the point to the blow fly.

Plot the track going and follow it back. I will check my chart plotter and get back to you.

2manyboats posted 05-26-2005 08:22 PM ET (US)     Profile for 2manyboats  Send Email to 2manyboats
It looks like it is less than 10 miles from the hwy 90 bridge to the Blow Fly and less than 2 of those or in Bernard Bayou.

If you have chart 11372_2 you can see that Back Bay is well marked and only the last few miles will have privite markers. I think blow fly is just past kremer marine.

If the weather is good and we are in the revenge I will use the laptop to navigate as it has better charts than the gps plotter.

Anybody else that wants to go by boat can get with us friday afternoon.

Maybe Jim can guide us in and out from the channel

JREvans posted 05-26-2005 08:55 PM ET (US)     Profile for JREvans  Send Email to JREvans
We will be staying in Lake Villa subdivision on Back Bay in West Biloxi. I wouldn't mind hooking up with you guys as you pass by on the way to and from the restaurant. There is a decent boat ramp behind where we are staying that takes you right out to the channel in Back Bay. It is about a 1/4 mile west of Popps Ferry Bridge.

Thanks Jim. We were down on the coast this weekend and went to Ship Island Saturday. We crossed over the bridge on Cowan Rd. just west of the restaurant a couple of times but couldn't see the restaurant from the bridge. I scrapped the idea of launching the boat from our subdivision. I found a better public launch just off Popps Ferry Rd. I'm not worried about getting to the restaurant, just coming back at night in unfamiliar waters. Joe

Jeff, thanks for pointing out about following a GPS route in reverse. Sometimes I forget about those capabilities! It sounds also like we could follow the rest of the "fleet" out when it's time to go, so I don't see why we can't come by boat to the Blow Fly Friday evening, weather permitting. Jim, it looks like a great spot.

For Saturday, we're also packing a portable gas grill.

We brought the boat home from the marina this week to begin ticking off a few repairs and upgrades on my punch list before our big event. Wish it would stop raining long enough to get going on the work, but I'll take the rain now instead of June 17-18! We always seems to invite rain to these things. :)

Hi all, signing up here. Our plan is to tow over and launch on Sat. morning. I will be getting back from a business trip on Friday, so schedule is tight for me. I hope everything goes as planned.

We will be in the Whaler 167 (by Whaler's naming standards today).

We will have the Handheld VHF, so will operating under the Tully Mars handle. The Black Pearl will be docked still in Orange Beach.

Look forward to it, my friends with the Newport from last year will be tagging along with me. So count a total of 4 adults and 2 children, though these numbers might ought to be 2 adults and 4 children.

Is anyone else hearing anything?

PS: I am way ahead of schedule on my packing. The trip still looks like a probable go.

2Many, about our last conversation. If I am able to go, I am not sure if it will be Friday or Saturday early and will probably bring a buddy, so I don't think I'd be able to take up your offer - if it was still available. Many thanks!

Here's the latest:
The National Hurricane Center in Miami is keeping an eye on a low pressure weather system in the Caribbean Sea that could become the season’s first tropical storm.

Center hurricane forecaster Lixion Avila said some computer models show that if it does become a storm it could be in the Gulf of Mexico in the next three or four days and “could be headed in the direction” of the mouth of the Mississippi River.

Wednesday afternoon, a reconnaissance plane was flying into the disturbance to gather information on the low pressure system to help forecasters begin to make a prediction.

“We are not making a forecast” at this time, Avila said.

I didn't realize my special powers had been detected. My plan is to attract a minimal force hurricane or a tropical storm into the vicinity a few days in advance, leaving beautiful weather in its wake for the rendezvous, no damage to speak of, and the Gulf with no time to reorganize another salvo to throw at us.

Let's see how that plane shapes up.

Friday Night Dinner, the 17th at the Blow Fly 6:00 pm. That OK?

I will be there a little early and available by cell to guide those into the dock. The PVC posts will be on your starboard side. The entry to the Blow Fly channel is a couple of hundred yards to the west of the Lorraine-Cowan bridge. There is no sign or anything, just a single story building on the water past a gazebo on a pier. Jim

Schedule so far:

Friday Night Dinner at the Blow Fly: 6:00 p.m., looks like 10 to 12 people.

Saturday Morning at west tip Deer Island: 9:30 a.m.

Breath's Boats (Jim Collins, salesman) will be coming with 21 Outrage. He has invited several new owners. So we could have a bunch of boats.

We probably can make it out to Horn or Ship that morning. My crew and I will be watching the afternoon storms for the return back time.

Jeff (Too Many), You want to pick a spot at Horn??

Jim

Sure I'll pick a spot , we don't go to the west end very often but I think there are plenty of spots. If we want to be able to walk to the south side we will most likely need to stay near the end.

I moved the big boat last night and tied up just as the squall hit. If I had been 10 min. later I would have been hammered.

I now plan to launch the 21 in Gautier Friday afternoon and run over. If the plan holds I will be in Biloxi by 4pm.

One last thing. It is really shallow around Deer Island. From the marked Biloxi channel the best entry to the west tip is straight in from the north. Don't come in at an angle unless your in a small boat. Jim

Great pics, just 2many of the old fat guy. It was good to see everyone and add more real people to the internet names.

After bringing the 21 home , I headed back to Biloxi to bring the trawler home and passed Mike with the revenge behind the jeep. After the trawler trip I still had to go back to Biloxi one last time to bring the van home.

I ended up running the 21 Revenge a total of 100nm this weekend and it looks like I burned about 30 to 35 gals.

Again enjoyed seeing everyone.

We're back from a wonderful weekend in Mississippi. It was great seeing old friends and meeting new ones, and it was too bad about the ones we missed this time out. It was our first time boating in some of these waters, and we enjoyed the hospitality of the people who call them home.

Art, your little girl is a cutie. Sam enjoyed meeting and playing with Xenia.

Daddydo, I wanted to see your boat! Oh, well... at least Jeff brought his banana boat.

Jim, thanks for organizing, and Jeff, thanks for the good nighttime navigation. That torch light of yours probably blinded some fish!

Jim, great pictures! Here are some more...

Sorry to disappoint you Mike. You are welcome to stop by and joint the wife and daughters as they all stand there with their arms crossed, tapping their foot and repeated asking when I'll be finished working on the boat so they can go get some sun! lol. Seriously, after seeing your boat in person you are welcome to stop by and give me any pointers you wish. I'll give you a call.
While you guys had that outing on Deer Island (the pictures looked great), I was "un"-painting the boat (it was my Father's Day present). This morning I talked to Spectrum for some new gel coat and I promise the next rendevous will have another classic banana boat in the ranks.

Must apologize for missing you all. I sure tried my hardest to get there.

I flew back in to Mobile on Friday only to meet the monsoon rains where my boat was kept. So I couldn't get her ready, then came down to pick her up on Sat. morning and dead battery. It went down hill from there so I had to scrub the trip.

Sorry I missed it, but I shall return.

Your boats all look good guys, very nice. 2many, looks like you planned a good trip again. Kudos to you.

Tully Mars

BTW, Mike Brantley, I went to check out your pics and found a lot of pics from last years I hadn't seen. Very impressive web site!

We had a great time. Enjoyed meeting all the old hands and new folks in our part of the woods. Thanks again to Jim at Breath's Boats for the great ride in that very fast Outrage. Jim

I've been thinking now for over a week of something snappy to say in response to "tag". So far, the best I can come up with is "well.....ok.", lol. I must be working too much and playing WAY too little.

That was a hopeful "TAG", and in jest of course. Thanks Jim
