Speed -I was in Stockholm about three years ago for a week on business. I looked, and even took a boat-tour of the city and peered into marinas but only saw a couple. The downtown area is quite full of older, wooden fishing vessels that appear to have been converted to private use. They are very picturesque lined up along the mooring walls of the city.
I recommend staying at the Radisson SAS Strand Hotel, which puts you right downtown along the water near the museums/Castle and within walking distance to the old part of the city. (An absolute must-see and something that should be explored (only on foot). There is a great little road there which is so narrow at one point, you can stretch your arms and touch the buildings on either side. Talk about human traffic jams!)
There is an excellent restaurant, Grand Nacionale, that I highly recommend for great food and nice atmosphere. There is also an upscale club/modern / minimalist restaurant that I have a matchbook from, but can't remember the name offhand (and the batteries are dead on my palm pilot this afternoon!). I'll look that up for you.
