It's never too early to start planning a Whaler rendezvous.

Last summer we held the 1st Annual New Hampshire "Big Lake" Rendezvous. It was held on Tuesday, August 17th. I believe there were about 8-9 Whalers in attendance.

Do we still want to hold it mid-week, to avoid the weekend crowds on the lake? Mid-week is hard for some, but maybe if we plan early enough it will help. Do we still want to do it in August, or move it to July?

Please offer your suggestions and comments.

Bob

Due to my stay at home dad job, I can only do a weekend. Open to any dates except July 30/31.

Thanks Bob!

Hello Bob,
I could do a weekday with at least two weeks notice, but either is okay with me. What part of the lake did you all meet at last year?

Phil,

We'll see how the discussions go as far as weekend vs weekday. We're open for either. How are the home duties going? It must be interesting. I'm sure you'll keep watching the post.

Tate,

Last year we met at the Weirs docks at 10-11AM. Have you been out on the big lake? We launch at Meredith. It was a really nice day and lots of fun. Maybe Phil will repost the link to the photos of last year if he still has them.

I was posting with my partner sitting next to me so I had to say weekends only. If it doesn't work for the group, I am willing, putting my interest aside, to convince her to take the day off and let me go.

Being a stay at home dad is the hardest job that have ever had and I love it. LOL.

Nice pics Phil, I hope this year's weather is as nice.
Bob, I have not boated on the big lake yet, but back in college I landscaped many properties throughout the lake and that region whilst day-dreaming a hot summer's day away. I have heard there are many unmarked rocks/shallows on the lake, is this still true? Looking foward to exploring Winnie with some experts.

Anyone who has boated recently on "The BIG lake" knows it would be rediculous to try to have a rendezvous there on a weekend. There would be very heavy boat traffic, wakes and the weekend warriors to contend with. But it is up to what the majority would like to do. Just my 2 cents worth.

Bob -

Either a weekday or weekend would work, but a weekday would likely be a lot more enjoyable. I was on the lake this past Sat and Sun, and even though lots of marinas are still only half full, things were crazy in places and the chop was brutal at times. Either July or Aug is OK for me.

By the way, I've got a 235 Conquest now, and need even more bridge clearance than I did last year. On the other hand, I can always take the long way around again. I really look forward to seeing everyone.

After doing the Seacoast trip last weekend, I am pumped for this one.

In July the weeks start Monday 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th

How bout everyone state what weeks work or don't for a weekday gathering.

The week of July 4th, except of course, the 4th it self, looks good. During the week of July 11th, the 11th and 12th work, but not the rest of the week. From then on till the end of July, I'm really busy at work. August will work again, like last year.

Great photos of the Seacoast Trip last Sat. You guys had great weather.

Anytime between the 2nd and 16th work for me, so the week of the 4th and the 11th.

Actually any day is good for us. Some people vacation the week of the 4th. June 12th would be a good date. This way all the revelers of the fourth would have recuperated. So, my vote is for the 12th. Plus the lake will have settled down by then.

Vin is right, the week of the 4th is a big vacation week because of the holiday. July 12th is okay with me

July is looking bad for midweek days off for me. August looks alot better. Any chance of moving the date to August?

August also works fine for me, except for 8/12 - 8/19 due to a wedding and Maine vacation while we are up there.

Bob, thanks for hooking me up with the flanging tool and rods today, I really appreciate it. I hope to be done with the project by the end of the week.

August works for me as well. No blackout dates.

Should we try the early or middle part?? I presume the last week or two is the most crowded?

Hi all! I'm currently living in Annapolis, MD, but will be relocating to southern NH in July. I am hoping to make it to your Rendezvous in August, looks like a great time.

Lightweight,

Welcome to NH. If you haven't done any boating here yet, you are in for a great time. State information on boating is available at the Department of Safety website.

Looking forward to meeting you on the "Big Lake"

Bob,
I grew up in southern NH many moons ago, been close to 25 years since I've lived up there. Looking forward to moving back, life is to hectic down here in the big city. The only relaxation is being out on the Chesapeake fishing. See yah on the "Big Lake"!

Welcome back to New England Lightweight, things in Southern New Hampshire must look a great deal different than they did 25 years ago, but I hope you are as happy with your move as we have been.

Looking foward to meeting up with everyone in August, and the ninth is fine with me, although I will probably be without my better half.

Lightweight, if it rains on the ninth, maybe we can go workout our vehicles with some good ol' offroading and muddin as I will not be able to make the 10th.

Happy weekend all.

Interesting...Lightweight...I've been contemplating a move to Annapolis!

Tate/Phil Tyson.....my plan worked, and I have the summer off.

So, I should be able to make 'The Big Lake' Rendezvous!

Tate,

Things have changed a bit, but not as much as I would have thought, it's still pretty darn quiet up there compared to good ol' Annapolis. I'm still shooting for the first week or so in July for the move, I can't wait!

I'm always up for some muddin', if we get rained out we'll just have to do that. Just finished putting 3.54 axles in the Scout today, got rid of the 3.07 dogs that were in there. If I ever get done with this truck I need to find the time to bottom paint the Whaler, it's been neglected and needs some TLC.

Bkoelbel,

If you have any questions about Annapolis, just fire away, I'd be more than happy to help out with any info.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Larry

Bob et al - Just FYI, I was tied up at the Meredith town docks last weekend and saw two Whalers I hadn't encountered before, one from MA and the other from NH, both trailered up. I mentioned the rendezvous to them, and with any luck we may have a couple more bosts in our parade. Look forward to seeing you all on the 9th.

Hi Guys =

I am out for next week as well.

I have only been out a total of 5 times. Just have to wait for next year.

Please post lots of photos!!!!

I've waited, hoping things would slow down at work, but no luck. Looks like the beginning to August won't work for me either. The end of Aug or after Labor day my be better. There is a post for a Lake Sunapee trip on the page, we may try to attend. Never been on Sunapee with the Montauk.

How does after Labor Day look for Winni? Weekend should work out then. Not as crowded, a lot of the summer people are gone.

Well, guys (and gals), do we have a verdict on the 9th? With Phil and Bob having to bow out, do we just want to wait until after Labor Day? Either works for me; I'm on the lake anyway.

Kinda hate to have just a couple of boats show up on Tuesday and miss that "critical mass" that makes these events fun.

Barry
