Yesterday while we were out with Casey McCann, he and I discussed planning a rendezvous in Southern California in October. When we were at the NorCal rendezvous last weekend, a few members mentioned that they might head down if we put something together. Here's what Casey and I were thinking: Base the rendezvous at Dana Point Marina. Dana Point offers guest slips and anchorages. A number of hotels are nearby, along with a state campground. Dana Point is appealing because it doesn't have the commercial traffic of Los Angeles and San Diego. The area also has covered picnic ramadas with barbeques, so nightly get-togethers would be easy to accomplish. It's also a lovely facility. Plan for perhaps the weekend after the opening of the lobster season. Opening weekend is always a full-on madhouse out there, but by the following weekend it should be a bit more mellow. Plans for events could include a Friday night lobster run for anyone who wanted to try their hand at hoopnets and a Saturday cruise to Catalina. Information about the proposed location is available here: I'd like to know, first, of any refinements you might have to offer to the tentative plan, and second, who might like to come. |

PS: I'm not asking anyone to commit to participating at this early date. I'm simply trying to get a feeling for how many folks might be interested in attending. |

As you know, I'm in! I encourage all to come, it'll be a blast, and the weather couldn't be better this time of year, no wind, pink sunsets, 70 degree water... I also have the Cal 246 available for a bunkhouse if we need it at the island, but it'll be a good time for all.. |

If I'm free I'm in. Fall is the most beautiful time for boating in SoCal. |

So we've rounded up all the usual suspects. Who else would like to come? |

My boat is going to be up in Washington for the summer, but if I get it back to Ca in September , I will make every effort to come down. Sounds like a great timeā¦.. |

Good times assured! If you live in Southern California, or would like to spend a weekend in SoCal, you're welcome! |

If you don't mind a 24' Blackfin Combi tagging along I would love to make the trip from San Pedro. I can trailer or cruise down. I love boating in Sept-October! (former and future Whaler owner) |

Jeff, why not? So long as you'll let us all check out your boat.... How does the Fri-Sun of October 14-16 look for everyone? This weekend puts us after the opener for lobster (and the attendant craziness) but early on in the season, for those who want to go out after bugs. |

Just found this. I would be interested if I have any time left over from my summer expeditions. I've been burning vacation time like wildfire this year. I had over 250 hours built up. Steve. |

Hmmmm...and I've got my old dad and a bunch of friends to visit down there as well. Please add me to the list as a potential, either with or without my OR 18. Tony |

Tony, you know you'd always have a ride on Tohora Iti. Heck, I'd even bring along one of the Menemshas so you could have your own craft for the weekend! |

Barring any unforseen events, count me in! Sounds like a lot of fun! |

I'd consider it if I owned a tow vehicle that could handle the Conquest. Anyone know where I can rent a diesel dualie? |
