I'm hoping to run down to Gloucester sometime either Saturday, June 26, or Sunday, June 27. Maybe beach the boat at Wingersheek (sp?) or Crane's beach during the afternoon, and then take the canal over to Gloucester to watch the greasy pole contest.

Anyone else interested?

May be interested Nate. I could launch at Cashman's?

What time do you think you will leave and get back?

Phil,

According to last year's schedule, the greasy pole contest is later in the afternoon, so I guess the plan would be to head out of the Merrimack at around 12:00 noon, go down to the Annisquam and hang out at a beach until 3:00, then head thru the canal to Gloucester to watch the greasy pole contest. Maybe head back around 6:00, which would put us back in Newburyport at around 7:30 pm.

Hmmm, now that I think about it, that is a long day for the kids - I don't know if they could take it or not. Anyway, the plan would be weather dependent because high tide is 3:00 pm or so, which means the protected route around the back side of Plum Island is not accessible, and it's 10 miles of ocean each way, which I won't do with the kids if it's snotty.

It would be a pretty fun day, and I bet JohnO will have his new car deal finalized by then, so he won't have an excuse to blow us off again. :)

I'd be interested if you think I can do the trip with my Sport 150. Since you know where you are going I could probably hitch up with you Phil.

Vink, You could certainly do the trip in your sport 15 if the weather is decent. It's the 10 mile run from the Merrimack down to the Annisquam that would be our limiting factor. Once in the Annisquam, it's protected no-wake all the way to Gloucester.

Any boat ramps on the Parker of Ipswitch rivers would keep you in protected waters nearly the entire way, so we should research that also. I know Ipswitch has a town ramp, and Pearly's Marina may have a ramp also.

I'd like to join you guys if I could run with another boat, I've never taken a boat out up there before and would need to follow someone, and find out where I could launch.

I can't commit to anything yet, but I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Guys -

Looks like I am not going to be able to do this. Have an Island HOA Executive Committee Meeting on Sunday. (booooorrring)

Sorry Nate. Was sure looking to tag team with you in giving John a really hard time. Yes, John, you do deserve it.

Enjoy it and post some photos for me to drool over!

Maybe we can start a Merrimack gathering thread.????

I also will not be able to make this get together. I was reminded that I have a family commitment. A Merrimack rendezvous or Mass rendezvous sounds like a nice idea. We're
looking forward to another get together with all of the folks from down there.

No problem guys. Turns out I can't make it either!

Wow!

If you had a fiesta and no one went, would it still be fun?
