I am posting this to see if there is any interest in people getting together in Frankfort Michigan on the weekend of July 15,16,17? I am going to be up there from the 8th through the 17th however, my wife it heading to Traverse City on Friday the 15th to spend the weekend with old College friends. So I will be there with the dogs and I will have lots of free boating time. Teakoil (Bob) and I had talked of meeting up there, he might still be able to get up there...but, is there any other interest? I was thinking of spend sometime cruising north to Sleeping bear, Platte bay, or Leenland. All day trips due to the dogs having to stay behind (they hate the boat).

Cheers,
Jeff

Tom,

I am not sure of what the Beaver Island Trip is? So I am not sure if I am going :). Is this taking place during the Whaler event up in Charlevoix (I am sure I spelled it wrong). If so I am not planning on going to this event. Though I would love to, I really can not afford to haul the boat all over the state to much. I am only going to take it on our planned family vacations. I was hoping to go to the Lake Erie event however, good friends of my wife and I are now getting married that weekend.

sportroyalwulf,

So you will be up the week before eh. I will be getting up there on Friday the 8th and stay for the following week. My Mom nad Dad will be up there with the rest of our family from June 30th on. If you see an absolutely mint 1984 Montuak with a 90hp Mariner on it is his. Say Hello.

I have been vacationing in this area for many years and love it. My parents begin building thier retirement home in downtown Frankfort 3 blocks from the water in a few weeks. This area his my favorite place to be in Michigan.

Sorry our paths will not meet up.
Cheers,

I will not be leaving the frankfort area until saturday the 9th. Maybe we could meet for a cruise late friday p.m. or evening. The sunset is late this time of year. I'll buy the draft heffewiesen beer at the Mayfair in Elberta.

Ah, Big Platte, thats a nice lake. Due to my job situation and small children I am still not sure about this trip though I really want to go.

I have three days off all summer. One is reserved for July 7 (stupid wedding on a Thursday) and one is reserved for the Charlevoix event.

I may use one for this weekend too but I wont know until the week of probably

Well I am screwed. I had to use a personal day for today since I couldnt work today. This is crap.

Looks like I am getting written up in August when the Charlevoix event comes and I am out of personal days. Oh well. Sorry Jeff I wont be able to make this one.

I still have your cell if it has not changed? I will call.-- hope you have a great weekend--if you can make it to that-let us know, but I know how it can be with the dogs(got a couple)--got to luv them.

Well the motor has not let go but I found problem though normal maintance. The weekend we met up I was running mixed fuel in the tank as well as the VRO hooked up becasue I had just re-installed the VRo. OMC states that you should do this when ever the VRO has been disconnected and reconnected. Well I finally ran out that tank I was having a bit of hesatation when going to WOT to put the boat up on plane. Thought it must be the plugs all gummed up with the extra oil. So that evening I when I got home I pulled the plugs and found one plug PREFECTLY clean. I had a feeling that something was surely wrong. I thought the carb for that cylinder had gone bad. I am pretty good with engines however, I do not know everything so I called my father who was originaly schooled as an aircraft mechcanic. He knew right away the head gasket was leaking into this cylinder. It was clean because the water was getting into the cylinder and boiling into stream and cleaning the cylinder. So I called lockmans and talked to the mechicanic and stated the same thing. Oh well at least I caught it in time.

I KNEW That motor was running with waaaay too little smoke...the water must have cleaned that up too! :)

Sorry to hear about your problem Jeff...glad you caught it in time too..in the grand scheme of things, it will be a relatively inexpensive fix for a motor that should last years and years.
