Tampa Bay Area.Any Waver's interested in forming a get-together at 3-rookers island sandbar? This is a couple of miles north of the Dunedin Causeway and is a real nice spot. +/-25-50 yd wide strip of sand with Gulf on one side and intracoastal on the other. ???

Yes...Shepard's sounds good too... I would start by saying how about Weekend of Sat. 8/6... once we set a date we can set specifics...Judge...this is south of Stephan...Shepard's is on Clearwater Beach directly across Sand Key on the pass. The other areas are a +/- 30 min. boat ride north of Clearwater. |

I am little suprised that there seems to be so few Continuous Wavers in the Tampa Bay area since I do see plenty of Whalers around...What about spending sat. Morning/afternoon on anclote island/sandbar (aka 3-rookers island sandbar) and then heading south to Shepard's Bar on the pass around 4 pm for more beers and live tunes. (for those not familiar with shepard's you anchor on the pass (beach front) and wade 30' in to bar/pool/hotel) Hey I'm in whenever... |

I'm talking to the Sea Stone resort- has full service marina and dockage, I have to contact Mark tomorrow to see if he can get us any space for that Sat night for the Whalers, may have to just tie up, at $20, not sure if any slips will be available (I talked to resv. clerk)- she said Mark may be able to get us a sweet deal -usual is $89 for a queen for 2. (less if you have AAA) Sea stone is on intercoastal across the street from Shepards(which has an incredible bikini contest every Sunday:-) I'll post info tomorrow on what he say - how many are in? |

well, sea stone doesn't have any slips available- Pat did you come up with anything?Ric, this was your idea, sorry i kinda ran w/ it, but is the plan to meet at Anclote sandbar or 3 rooker sandbar? And what time? if we're sober enough to make back to my place (which is a big if)-we can use up 3-4 of my neighbors docks and best western up on US19 around the corner. but probably be more fun if we can find someplace Clwr beach area with dockage- I'll keep looking- Pat any luck? ric,no, the anclote sandbar is part of anclote island (where the lighthouse is), 3 rooker is further S. towards you, before you hit caladesi/honeymoon- can you suggest public boat ramps near you for people trailering up? We should check out caladesi (always ranked high by "Dr. Beach" every yr) too I'll call the Sea Captain and reserve the 4 rooms, hopefully they have 4 docks as well- if we got 4 staying - looks like Pat, Frank, Myself-that's 3, Nick? Janis? any others spending the night? |

The closest boat ramp to Clearwater Beach Marina is the Seminole Street Boat ramp(from west take Gulf-to-Bay Blvd. to fork in road...stay right onto Cleavland Street. It is located a few blocks North of Downtown Clearwater- take right (north) at Ft. Harrison. Ramp is a few block's north on right. Note: there is a Starbuck's on the ground floor of the bldg. at the S.W. corner of the Clevland/Ft. Harrison intersection). Just south is the Belleair Causeway boat ramp (from west take E.Bay/W.Bay Drive through Largo) I like to use this one, more ramps. It is about 12 min. longer run to Clearwater Beach than from the Seminole Street Boat ramp but also a nice scenic cruise. I think it is a $7- a day fee for Seminole(City of Clearwater) and $5- a day for Belleair (Pinellas County) (Not 100% sure cause I have the annual pass) If needed... on the water fuel available at the Clearwater Beach Marina.

ok, I reseverd 2 rooms at the sea captain for Pat and myself. I was going to reserve the other 2 left, but they're all nonrefundable, and I didn't have any of your numbers. However they are holding the other 2 rooms till noon tomorrow (thurs)- ask for Pat or Dorothy and tell them you're with the Whaler group- they have dockage as well cheap- $5-10 -also nice barbeque grill area, pool etc-all at clearwater marina area #-727-446-7550Pat wanted ya'all to know to make sure you have 2 anchors when we head to sheppards because of the current- see ya all next saturday!

FWIW the closest boat ramp to the Clearwater City Marina is the Clearwater Youth Center Boat ramp on the beach. This ramp is located about a block East of the fire station(#46) on Mandalay ave. There is about ten parking spots and hardly anyone knows about this ramp. It's also free, unlike the county and city ramps. If you are going to 3 Rooker Bar or Anclote then the Anclote Park boat ramp at the mouth of the Anclote river is your best bet. Also if you guys are going to anchor at Shepards/Tropixs, make sure you bring a stern anchor. phatwhaler out. |

Hola Nick... I am guessing you mean US19..."closest" ramp to Caladesi is next to Downtown Dunedin but I have never used it because it looks like crap, has a severe drop off at end... but then again it might be fine. If you goto to Clearwater Beach ramp you will deal with heavy traffic and if 8-10 spots are taken ...well...get off beach. Suggest you goto Seminole St. Clearwater Ramp (US 19 to Gulf to Bay Blvd then west) or Belleair Causeway ramp (US 19 to East/West Bay Drive). You are coming from south...and if you are not spending night...it would make sense to use these because from what has been discussed we will likely end up partying (woohoo!!) at Shepards at end of the day anyway which is close to these two ramps. --- By whaler... fisrt (southernmost) is Belleair Causeway/bridge, then Memorial Causeway/bridge...then turn left (west0 just before you get to the next causeway/bridge (Dunedin). Caladesi will be on the south and Honeymoon Island on the North. Not sure if this helps or actually what RT.19 you meant... :)

It was a great time! Launched at stephs on the Cotee river, awesome homes, beautiful foliage, great river cruise too! We met up at the sandbar with sharkbait. The weather was perfect! I went kneeboarding and he "skurfed?" Our vessels then headed up to Tarpon Springs for some awesome authentic greek food. After that we headed south to Cleawater beach and docked up at a comfortable hotel with five dollar docking. Steph took us to an upscale dining place and we enjoyed our sumptuous sampling @ bob's (heildman's) bistro. We stared our evening with Sake Martini's they are finished with cucumber wedges a very light cocktail if you can get your favorite mixogist to help you out. Appetizers and delicious maincouse and delelectable deserts! I forgot, the boating was great too. After dinner, we gathered in the whaler, smoke a few good cigars, kicked back a few cold ones, the women retired and we went out and fish. Dang, life is good! |
