Actually now it has grown so big parts of it are under the bridge. They also made the onlet slow speed no wake so anywhere you park now is calm. Not to be confused with Jewfish key which is an island and sanbar just to the east of the bridge. |

Why do they always use the manatee guise for places that they want you slow down now? Also then, why do manatees only hang out near rich people’s homes? That no wake zone showed up overnight without proper signage and police there that morning giving out tickets. I had to pull over an officer to find out where the zone started and stopped. For all’s interest he said drawn a line between the sign at the seawall on the end of Anna Maria to the tip of jewfish key. There is now a sign there also in about three feet of water.I live very near there so I’ll see you all then. I’ll be in my beater/flats fishing ’67 13’ if it’s not too choppy, otherwise the Proline 220 Sport. If anybody needs dockage I live on the water off Palma Sola Bay.

I heard shell key is so shallow now that we may have problems there. The problem with Ft Desoto and shell are the alcohol rules. You have to stand in the water to drink. Gonna be a problem with a keg. With 20 boats, cops will be on us like flies. We'll stick with Beercan this time being Frank and such have family here. Let's set one up for late winter in Homasassa or Tarpon springs, etc....fair? |

The whaler is sitting on the davits in the back yard and I even have my own private boat ramp to run anywhere. I’m only minutes to the Gulf and still no time at this point to use any of it. But once the pool, bar, game room, waterfall and landscaping is in it will be party time. I will host a party up here. Don

Judge, email me with the info on that "cheap" shutter guy around Ellenton. I've got a female friend with a house in Ellenton who is still using plywood. (her house is maybe 30 months old, and obviously the county wasn't specifying that every house come with impact glass or shutters/panels when it was built). Palm Beach County requires impact glass or panels/shutters, and I LOVE my accordions. Also curious whether your new bulkhead is concrete, aluminum, composite, or wood? And No, I'm not in for the keg trip, although I do keep track of what you guys are planning. |

Been stalking from Jersey while on vacation thinking I'd like to do Tampa with the Whaler-only 8 hours since you saw her in Beaufort! I know...I know. N E Way, if I can make it I'll probably be alone since my brother did Beaufort, Charlotte and a week on the Cape this summer with me. Gotta a killer place in Long Boat Key I will be using if I make it. Forgot my last day of unscheduled vacation is the 15th, and now find out may be building another Jersey Skiff that weekend. Hoping to return to Bradenton for this one. OK if I let some fellow ClassicSeacrafters in on the festivities? Oh and the JS is running strong, but trying to keep her from salt as much as I can. You have to check out www.speedskiffs.com. Renamed, renumbered and quick. Go to skiff outings and check out Charlotte. Dale Earnhart Inc. was awesome. My friend Lindsey Pirie used to build JS's back in Jersey. He had the old Binder molds. Guys, love to see the interest in the Skiffs! Plan now for Mt. Dora this March! All kinds of Crap to see! Smirkless pulled me to the dock last year. BTW, run this weekend to see if skiffers like Tremble Park for the skiffs this year (where I met his son Ethan). Looks like I will not make this or Long Boat. Spent all day building stringers and core for new skiff to be laid up Friday morning (about 5 a.m.). Fourth out of the mold and first I would not be a part of. Building for a friend who is replacing his late 70's Bender. Oh, and with more H.P..I want to come to Bradenton so bad! Buddy in Ellenton or Palmetto still trying to become a snook guide, and he is AWESOME! Middletown, NJ originally, "but you would never know it, of course." Laid back, and focused. Haven't been back since Manhattan Bagel changed hands 7 or 8 years ago. Spent first month there opening it with another buddy, somewheres around 1996. If I can't meet you guys this weekend, HAVE A BALL!!! I will make it with the refurbed 1982 15 one of these times for sure. If you want to see twenty or so Jersey Speed Skiffs, make the trip to Mt. Dora in March. Plenty of stuff for a day trip with the family, launch Whalers, and just hang. Fresh water is really cool for a change. Sorry it doesn't look like I'll make it but don't count me out in the future. Definately B4 I lose access to the condo! Be safe and have 4 for me. Mike. |

Thanks to THe Judge for a great afternoon and plenty of Whaler talk. Thought I had seen all of the Classic Configurations, but Nick's was my first Factory Newtauk. We arrived a little late as we launched in St. Pete and made the Tampa Bay crossing which is more intimidating on the water than looking from the SkyWay Bridge. With a Northeast wind it gets a little snotty around the ship channel but nothing the Montauk and Jay's 15' Alert couldnt handle. When we found Beercan, Nick had a good headstart on the beer and Len had already gone home to get his big water boat. To those in the Tampa area, Beercan is similiar but smaller than 3 Rooker but the scenery was very impressive and the park rangers were not giving tickets to the T-Backers. Thanks again to Nick and Len for a great afternoon. Bill and Jay |
