Ditto - I will miss this one as the date conflicts with safety boat duty for the Potomac River Swim for the Environment. I was really looking forward to the Knot tieing workshop (Ask me to demonstrate the famous/notsofamous 'Flying Bowline' sometime).Mac McLernon '76 Montauk - TOP DOG |

Mac,Remind me to ask you to show me that one Especially at 2 in the afternoon when the swimmers have covered about 14 miles (river is 7.7 miles wide) and the tide is pushing them into the bay and they still won't get out of the water.

Whalertowne is hosting this on Kent Island this year. I have not talked to Rick and Laura but they are also including boat rides which many, including myself though were missing. It is nice to combine the classics with the chance to ride on the newer boats, simular to the rendevous that Whaler holds closer to home. |

Steve, Thought we would do something different this year. KIYC is an awesome venue. There will be 3 seminars, a fishing tournament, of course the golf contest and a Q&A with the engineers from Boston Whaler. We will have the form online next week after we complete the agenda for the day. The ramp at the Kent Narrows Bridge is on the other side, much shorter distance than Chestertown. If folks want to stay the weekend, there is pleny of lodging and transient slips which I will have on the website. We will also have our fleet with us if anyone is interested. Mostly, it is a day full of activities designed for Boston Whaler Owners. I think everyone will have a great time. We also wanted to get away from Memorial Day Weekend and this date fit perfectly. We hope that this will bring more folks out to this event. We are excited about it and hope that you are too! |

I'm planning on doing the fishing thing, although I have never caught a fish in the Chesapeake Bay, YET! I haven't heard about too many people coming this year, there is another event that the Chesapeake Whalers are doing. I also have to "redo" my registration with Whaler corporate as this has become a offical Whaler event. I'll be at the captains meeting Friday night.....Jack |

I will miss this one as the date conflicts with safety boat duty for the Potomac River Swim for the Environment. I'm hoping to be strong enough to do this and the Bay Swim this year. SHame it isn't being held on a differnt date that didnt conflict with the Potomac swim. Id be there with bells on:)But Alas, commitments were made earlier in the year. When you give your word you gotta mean what you say and say what you mean:)But hopefully Ill see some of you the following week at the Chesapeake Bay Swim:) |

I have never been to one of the Boston Whaler sponsored events. How many owners attend, and of the owners who attend how many bring their boats? I was thinking about making the trip to Kent Island by water from the middle Delware River area. About 100 miles. I have a few days off and thought it would be an adventure. |

I went to the event last year , but this year is a little different as it is a corporate thing now and they moved the date. There is a very active bunch of Whalers in the Chesapeake bay, but they are doing another event that day, so I'm not sure how many will be there. Last year was great and most everyone came by boat there was maybe 30 boats there and about 100 people maybe. You will get to drive the new 190 Montauk or almost any other Whaler as they are going to be in the water. They do give you a lot of free stuff just for showing up. This is the first fishing contest I'm entering with Whaler, all in all should be a great time again!.........Jack |

Registrations will be accepted right up until the day of the event. As of last count we have 130 folks and 36 boats registered. I guess moving the date and the venue was a good idea afterall. Should be great weather for the event with lots of great whaler stuff for the whaler owners. 10 boats will in the water for demo purposes, lots of "Eastern Shore" food, factory representation, and some good friends. This is an event for owners and it only comes around once a year in these parts. See you all on the 3rd! |

Hats off to the crew from Whaler, Mercury, Chesapeake Whalertown, and Taylor Marine Center!Despite Mother Nature making for an iffy day, they pulled off a great owner's event. The selection of demo boats was great, and the location perfect for rough water demos (thanks to the blows at 15-20 kts). The new 190 Montauk is a beauty. With small craft advisories out I think it diminished the number arriving by sea, with many deferring to the automobile. It was a great time. Can't wait till next year. http://mysite.verizon.net/vzeom0tm/id7.html

Nice pictures, I did not make due wife's college classes and the weather. But I installed a new transducer and made a late afternoon run out on the bay. I was heading towards Love Pt and saw a 32 outage cuddy heading east, head on in three footers, great looking boat. Sounds a little crazy but I really wanted to see some of the whaler's until I saw how that 32 was running head on in the water, so I turn back to the barn. Maybe next year I will make it over.Mike |

Bad weather but a good time! We did spend the day on the water including the fishing tournement, didn't catch anything but big waves! We didn't take any test drives knowing we had a long trip back through those waves. We didn't get to see the Dauntless 20, but the Montauk 190 looks great! I did spend a lot of time talking to the Whaler people and did come away with what might be called a scoop, expect to see a under floor tank and live well in the 170 Montauk! I can't say who told me but lets just say I talked to everyone there including three dealers, the President of Whaler, design people, engineers and the marketing staff. It was said with a wink and a smile and a refernce to , how they figured out how to do it on the 190. The trip back was rough as last year, took a beating, broke my stern seat, VHF stainless mount broke and had to fish the antenna back on board. I think my Whaler is much tougher then I!...................JackPS Two trips to the Chesapeake in two years and both times we take a beating! |

My wife and I also made the trip to the Rendezvous. We traveled 150 miles in our 62 Nauset to get there. Unlike Bulldog we left the prior weekend and had great traveling weather. This event was everthing you would imagine and more. The time spent with the Boston Whaler and Mercury personel was invaluable. Demo rides were offered. Food, drink, prizes. It was too much fun and informative to miss. We did take some photos and put them into a Photo Slide Show. If anyone is interested in seeing the photos just send me an email and I'll return it with the show. brernick@comcast.net |
