My family and I would like to take a trip to Door County Wisconsin this summer with our 15' SS. I am looking for any suggestions on lodging with boating facilities or nearby marina. Also, any recommended boating suitable for the 15'. Thanks.
Rick

We took our 15-foot Boston Whaler to Door County several years ago. You can read of that trip in my narrative:

The Latham Smith Lodge is a good place to stay.

Since then we have also visited Door County twice again. We have stayed at Sister Bay which has a nice marina. It has a good ramp.

Sturgeon Bay is a nice area to to explore in a small boat.

Rock Island is a favorite spot, but you may want to launch close to it.

Door County has been a popular topic. At least 193 separate threads have mentioned it:

In my opinion The best of Door County is the Northern section above Sturgeon Bay. We stay June thru September outside Sister Bay. You will find Boat ramps in most of the small towns, except Jacksonport. I think Sister Bay is one of the better spots to start as they have a great Marina with a boat ramp and many other amenities nearby. The bayside towns are great for the small boater. A stop at Pennsula Park is a must. They have a boat ramp, Nicolet Bay and beach. So many places to boat and fish that it is actually best to keep your boat on the trailer and move around. If you have any specific
questions email me and I will be glad to share.

My wife and I and our 4 kids we lucky enough to have secured a campsite at Peninsula State Park during the week of July 4. Our tent site is on the water near Nicolet Bay. We'll have our 1976 15 Sport on the trailer and we will spend the week poking around Door County. Chambers Island is a favorite, and there are some great beaches around Little Sturgeon Bay and a great county park South of Egg Harbor.
I'd welcome the chance to meet up along the way...
Regards,
Tim

Buckeye,
If you come back to this article,
take a look at the discussion "Long weekend in Door County"

Quite a bit of info therein.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Teliasan - We have several family and friends coming into town the week of the 4th for Milwaukee's "Summerfest" so we won't be up that weekend. We are actually looking at the first week in August because my sons will be done with their baseball then. However, I am definately going to check out the areas you mentioned. Thanks.

Thanks for the link PRJ. I am going to check it out right now.
