Saturday June 10th the indoor harbour race in Rotterdam was planned. Due the leak of wind the 70 foot races came in from Southampton that day. The planned race of the VolvoExtreme 40’s was cancelled and the ABN AMRO 1, the Pirates and the Brunel were marshaled by 11 Boston Whalers from the North Sea over 18 miles into Rotterdam. In corporation with the harbour authorities, the coast guard, SAR vessels, the police and the Boston Whalers the racers came save into the Rotterdam harbour.
On Sunday we marshaled the habour race, just outside the Rotterdam harbour on the North Sea. We kept a round circle of 3 miles clear from spectatorships. Within the circle the Rotterdam harbour race took place. The Whalers were at front to follow the race.

Sailboats and Whalers seem to go hand in hand.

Recently saw a documentary about these sail boats and unless I misheard, they were topping 40 knots in the Southern Ocean. Sounds way too fast without a Mercury 90 strapped to the back
