Just got back Sunday... Plan to go back to Sister Bay area possibly 3rd week of August. Saw a couple 18-ft + Whalers launching last weekend in Sister Bay. Didn't get to stop, however...

If I can get away for the weekend, I plan on boating around Washington or Rock Island on Aug 12/13.

On my end here things pretty much fell apart for much boating this year. I think the most I can look forward to are a few week-ends close to home. Door County will have to wait until next year. Too bad, I was really looking forward to getting out there. I'd like to see some of the people from that area that I've met and hope to meet a few more faces from this site. Sounds and looks like a great area.

might be too late for this year.

My wife adn I traded our Dauntless 18 for an Eastport. Thought it might be fun to take a run up the peninsula.

I joined a group a few years ago at Rock Island. Nice place to camp. Pretty good fishing.

May have to settle for waters near home/Kenosha.

I probably will not have the time to get up to Door County this weekend.

Besides Milwaukee (McKinley Marina), any recommendations on good salmon and general boating areas between Kenosha and Port Washington for a day trip?

Wiscbw:

The Salmon fishing has been great, but the boating down here
is not even comparable to Door Co.

If you haven't been boating or fishing off Milwaukee,
I would strongly recommend coming over to fish for a period,
then go for a Milwaukee River cruise, stopping at the restaurant
of your choice for a meal and beverages.
It is a nice and interesting urban cruise up the River,
but I'm not sure it really qualifies as "boating".

Make note that the Kings are hitting either very early or at dusk/dark.
I was out last Saturday evening and went 2-3 on 15# Kings
in about 45 minutes right at dusk.
Fantastic on the grill!

I agree. Ths fishing has been good. If you do not have downriggers, you can get pretty deep with a dipsy diver. Kings are still in pretty deep water off Kenosha but I am seeing more activity in close for browns.

Clear platic dipsy. Flasher with light green tint. Howie fly, aqua.

Door County is definitely more interesting for boating.

There is a boat show beginning today at Reefpoint Marina in Racine. Runs through the weekend.

David1877 and prj

I’ve been to Milwaukee once this summer in June. There was a small craft advisory, very few boats out and the 4-6’ waves made my first Lake Michigan trip interesting. My Outrage was fine, but the Salmon were in deep water 10 miles out. More than I felt comfortable fishing. We stayed a few miles offshore rocking and rolling but had a good time. The Milwaukee river cruise to finish off the trip was very nice.
Thanks for your suggestions, I am using a dispy and I will try again and fish off Milwaukee this weekend.
