This is the last of the "good" whaler sponsored events until next spring. Anyone going? Anyone been there to comment on how it is? What is there to eat...free beer? Stuart is the BOMB but I heard this one is pretty darn good as well. If my 13' is ready by then, probably gonna go.

What up? Unveiled the 28 there 2005, I think weekend before Fathers Day. Smirkless, and Chris (CMarques?) were in attendance. We all arrived Friday afternoon, to find out that the show started Saturday. All made us feel welcome by allowing free beer to flow 24 hours early. Supporting dealer seemed happy to be there and have us. Missed Saturday due to shift. I think Smirkless got furthest traveled or oldest or something. I had driven through Stewart during the spring 2005 event and passed MarineMax while hunting JS parts then continuing down to Marathon to put on a show with the Offshore boys (APBA). Now that looked like a show! Beaufort looked like it would have been a disappointment but you will have to ask the others. Check your email for an event same weekend on Lake Norman (Charlotte). Jersey Skiffs! Should be about 20 or so. Definately not a Whaler event! zot. |

We are planning on being there. I am supposed to be in the Seatle / Whidbey Island area from August 7th thru September 20th, but I think I can away the week of Labor Day.We am planning on coming down from Charleston to Beaufort in the Temptation. (Mainly because it is the only time this year we will probably use this boat). Come down Friday, and go back Saturday night. I don't remember there being free beer last year, but Joyce said there was. They did have the soft drinks in a little tender, and there was a vendor giving away free Margarita-like drinks (non-alcoholic). I think we had Barbeque for supper. Whatever it was, it was GOOD! Nice crowd, met up with Chris and Mrs. Meatball, and Smirkless & Son, and that was where I finally got to meet TrafficLawyer in person (worth the wait!). Kinda low key like Stuart. WhalerAce |

It was great but its a stretch from O-town. Probably won't do it this year. I liked staying in the place across the street that was tied-in with the event. Fishing was kinda poor except for trafficlawyer who pulled in dozens of world record (and over slot) redfish that escaped the dinner table. Beaufort’s architecture survived the civil war so a short tour of some sort is good. The tidal flow is substantial but the dock is a floating type. Still, bumpers are a must. Glad they have an event up where Ace and Zot don't have to travel so far!Its also good to just get out of town for an event like this. Enjoy, Smirk out. |
