Phew! Still kicking boxes around the house and toiling in the confines of the "free" market. (heh.) I've been missing the water and that certain sense of well being that comes with a little trip in the boat. Must be the ions. That meet up with Buckda and Home Aside must have triggered some long forgotten instinct that's leading me back to the shores and bays of the big lakes. Kind of like a lemming on vacation. There's great comfort taken in the lingering odor of the two stroke oil and the colors shimmering off the small slick at the dock. A night or two under canvas with the waning moon should make it easier to approach the coming few weeks of work.

On short notice, Suzanne and I are heading up to East Tawas then over to Grand Traverse Bay. Thinking about a quick run from Elk Rapids to Suttons Bay via Old Mission Point Monday or Tuesday. Don't know where we're staying but we'll figure that out when we get up there. If anybody would like to meet up for a bite to eat or something please let me know. Any suggestions would also be welcomed.

Paul, Traverse City, Elk Rapids, and Suttons Bay have nice marinas. So does Northport.

There are plenty places to see in a few days.

If you are in Suttons Bay, give us a call in late afternoon or evening.

Paul,
Post your Cell phone number, I'm heading up to TC / Empire area Sunday - Wednesday, with Nancy, Kids, & their friends.....to take the Revenge would involve two cars, Etc , Etc to get everybody & everything up there for such a short stay, so I'm leaving her at home. I'd be interested in possibly meeting up for a Whaler ride though

Con B., Martha, family and friends. Thanks again for your hospitality and a great meal! Especially on such short notice, Suzanne and I enjoyed the time with you. I envy your view out from the point.

Elk Rapids Marina was a real nice place. Well designed and executed. They have a pretty vibrant downtown with the usual small restaurants & shops. Nice setting without the huge crowd. I'd like to get back up there and explore the area with stops at Sutton's Bay and Northport.

Today was blowing snottier than yesterday and we weren't too encouraged with the white caps in the morning.

Decided to pull the boat, sarted paking things up which involved a cart being blown off the dock and sinking, a bag of clothes floating across the harbor, a boat hook, and a short, wet love affair with the stays of a sailboat. The cell phone did not pass the immersion test.

Before taking the boat to the trailer we decided to make a little run out into the lake. Nosed the boat out into 2 1/2' squares about 5 seconds apart. Interesting fun but short lived.

Back in town to the Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise. Classic cars still don't seem to be able to compete with classic boats.

I have folks in Elk Radids. It is a nice little town, with a lot of first-rate boating all around it.

My boat (Ichthus) will be in the Elk Rapids Marina from 8/25 through 8/30/06. My sister is coming in from Alaska and I hope to be able to put her on some salmon while she's here. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate.
