We are thinking about going, I believe this is after Labor Day weekend, in which case I'd prefer to avoid I-95 at all costs.

I talked to Karrin today They were getting everything ready to leave for Beaufort on Thursday morning. I had meant to suggest to her the creation of the "Longest Distance DRIVEN by a Whaler To Attend the Rendezvous" category -- man, I want one of those 13' paintings really bad!

We are still planning on piloting the Temptation from Charleston Friday morning to get there around 4:00 pm.

See you guys there?

I had never imagined a 13' picture and had certainly never scene one. Pretty cool. My trip is almost certain at this point. PITA will cost me $150 additional if caught in my hotel room in Charlotte!!! Hope all is well while I am gone. Nick, call DL if any problems... my brother will be in town while I am away. zot.

Well, one engine on the Temptation wasn't providing a confidence stream, so we did not drive it to Beaufort. Did drive the Tahoe down, however, for the Friday night edition of the Rendezvous.

Good crowd on Friday, with Karrin and Tracy welcoming guests. Understand about twice the number of people registered this year over last year.

Sea Island Marine has about a dozen Whalers in the river, including a 170 Montauk, the new 190 Montauk, the new 20 Dauntless and a Ventura 210. Joyce and I spent quite a number of minutes in the last boat, and she really likes it. She should, at over $71K MSRP according to website.

Supper was great -- barbeque, phenomenal ribs, bacon-wrapped scallops, real homemade potato salad and cole slaw, and some GREAT daquaris.

Weather today was nice, weatherman saying a 50% chance of rain. Had a cloud cover with a nice breeze, but no rain, although we did see some signs of rain on the way home.

Plan on going back tomorrow, taking the 15 with us to play in the river some. Met some really neat people tonight, some new to Whalers, others returning to the fold.

Weather tomorrow is supposed to be mid-80's and clear. Super high tide predicted for tomorrow for you guys interested in fishing. (I'm just interested in driving the boats and eating), so watch where you anchor, as the tide can drop pretty quick.

If you're still on the fence about coming, the food alone is enough to sway you. Seriously, Whaler has done a great job once again in putting on a rendezvous.
